1977 BMW 316 (E21)
This car has been in my possesion for about two years now, and it has been a project for around 18 months.
The car is a rare "series 1" example, only made between 1975 and 1977, distinguishable by things like the dashboard and the chrome wing mirrors.
The car started out life in my ownership as a standard car, with a fantastic service history, and it has done just 48,000 miles. The car had some rust in a few places which has been cut out and new metal welded in. It also had a respray in the original Topazbraun Metallic paint.
From there I meticulously went around the car renewing and upgrading parts, refreshing the car and making it something I could be proud to own.
After getting the car back on the road, I found that the 1.6 M10 engine was overheating with no clear indication as to the cause. Instead of chasing the problem, I decided to swap the engine for an M20B25 from an E30. This conversion is now complete, and it runs well. The car has got some excellent pace with the new engine, and it feels very good to drive.

As a summary, the car has had the following:
Chassis/Body
Body and engine bay resprayed in original Topazbraun Metallic.
All rust cut out and replaced.
Whole underside of the car has been undersealed.
Front end has been "de-bumpered" with slots smoothed off.
Suspension
Gaz Gold coilovers.
Fully adjustable RPM front topmounts.
Engine/Transmission
Conversion to M20B25.
5 speed E21 M20 gearbox.
6 cylinder E21 subframe.
Custom stainless steel exhuast , incorporating a standard E21 320i backbox.

Of course there is a mountain of other information available in my project thread that I would recommend having a look at.
Being a project car, it still needs some work in my opinion, if I were to honestly list what else the car needs it would be as follows:
- Headlining needs making. The new material will be included in the sale.
- Tyres don't match, and while they're perfectly fine for the road and for now, any prospective buyer would probably want to change them.
- Stereo system needs finishing. All the wiring is in place, just needs the head unit fitting and the speakers wiring in, again the speakers and head unit will be included in the sale, so it literally just needs fitting.
- Needs an MOT, this will be sorted if someone does purchase the car.
I'm open to offers, but I don't need the car to sell, so I won't be open to silly offers. I can arrange an extensive viewing for anyone who wants to see it who is genuinely interested, this can include jacking up of the car should you want to have a good look around underneath. Test drives are fine as long as you are fully insured to do so, otherwise I will be more than happy to take someone out for a drive.
I am after £7,500.
This will include everything I have for the car, including a lot of spares.
Anyone who is interested please feel free to drop me a PM or call me on 07588663129, or drop me an email: edward930@hotmail.co.uk
Thanks,
Eddie.
