Hi, yes the Merc is still for sale.

The first person to look got here and become interested in out Merc Cosworth project and ended up buying that lol.

There was a second young guy who came to look and seem to think a 28 year old car would be as new! Nice guys but I don't think they really know old specialist vehicles.

If you want a genuine, very rare Generation 1 SEC from a renown 80's tuning house then you are more than welcome to come and have a look.

There are about another 4 people asking lots of questions.

To be honest I think the car is in great condition for a 28 year old mercedes which hasnt been fully restored. It will have a few areas that may need abit of attention but find any of these 80's Mercedes which don't.

Mechanically the engine starts first time, everytime, no smoke, holds perfect temperature but does suffer from a misfire which I think is down to either the dizzy cap or advance of the dizzy. Gearbox selects all gears, the diff is working as it should, brakes are all good, steering is fine etc.

I owned that white 420SEC twice from 2012 to 2013. I sorted the tinworm and electrical issues.

Amazing car, swapped the Pentas for a full engine rebuild, put 2000 more miles on it, then the car was stolen and torched the first time it was left in a 'secure' gated car park. A fitting ending for such a gangster merc, i'm in the market for another one once my Lupo sells.

Oh no!! What a tragic end to a great car. Don't see many white over grey ones with that rare sports interior.

I've now had a few including a 560, great retro cruisers.

They may suffer from a bit of tin worm but everyone forgets these are getting seriously old! They are going to be major classic status.

All it was missing was a James Bond/Iceberg Slim style champagne fridge in the glovebox.

It did attract a lot of attention though, especially with a few thousand watts of bass in the boot... I lost count of the number of times I was pulled over in it,

I was offered a straight swap for a C250 coupé at a petrol station before he googled it and saw all the for sale threads, but exactly as you are saying, value is in the eye of the beholder, in 5 or 10 years these will be seriously rare, that 420 was 1 of maybe 100 left registered... call me a conspiracy theorist but it was declared cat-b and unsalvageable for burnt seat belts and a broken ignition barrel, it went missing in the system for 2 years thanks to 'human error' on their behalf, somebody at the garage made a LOT of money from that car. The chrome and sound system alone were worth at least 2k, I wasn't told where it was so couldn't gather my personal belongings. Finally managed to trace it a few months back though after all this time, and the valuation based on the current market wasn't too bad. I suppose you get what you pay for though, I will never trust Ele****t car insurance again.

Thank you for all the interest in this car, amazed by the response the car got, though I shouldn't be these cars are the Mercedes on the move on the retro/classic scene.
