It's well overdue that I set up this thread really. I like modified cars, I like almost everything from the British Leyland Motor Corporation stable and, well, all of it falls into the retro bracket rather neatly. Here's something big. It's an Austin 3 Litre. Thread: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/153054/austin-litre-racer-broadly-replicaHere's something middling. A Morris Marina coupe. Here's something small. In fact, you don't get much smaller than a Wolseley Hornet, nor much greener in this instance. Bonus points awarded for links to build threads and all that good stuff. Amaze yourself with the world of BLMC and just what can be achieved if you're not afraid of rust and oil leaks.

This Triumph TR7 just caught me by surprise. So far I can only find a small gallery on it: www.cardomain.com/ride/676019/1980-triumph-tr7/photo-gallery/I've never seen a TR7 like this, in fact I've only really seen this treatment given to some early 90s built rods. I like it a lot and I'd love to know more about it.

What's that? You want some more? Okay then. Here's an Allegro actually living up to its name rather than reputation. Simple effective modifications on a much maligned and much loved car to produce something really rather stunning. It's appeared a few times on my Twitter feed so I can only assume it's still out there doing its thing. I can find the For Sale ad but have failed to locate the build thread if there is one. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/167903/1979-austin-allegro-sprint-yorks

The ultimate Jag has to be the Broadspeed XJ coupe Steed drives in the New Avengers. Almost as hot as Purdey.

TR6s always look like the headlights and wheels are way too big for the rest of the car, not so with that one, that's a cracking find and I really like it. Any more info on it?

Then there's contributions from MG which really ought not to be overlooked.

Ok, so I know it's 'self-whoring' but it's undeniably as BLMC as a TR6 and so not Standard (see what I did there?!)

Great thread! Here's my modest Metro, pictured outside MotorPunk HQ; We've long believed that much of BL's stuff gets an unfair rep, and to prove they're not all quite as bad as they say, we're taking a trip to Morocco in it to prove a point with a couple of other BL cars. More on that here if anyone is interested; www.motorpunk.co.uk/carclub-18-30/the-events/harris-mannk-to-casablanca/

I am an advocate of BLMC (et al!) products having owned a few over the years and currently buzzing around in a superb little Triumph Toledo... I had a cracker of a P6B that I wish I'd never sold too... All in all I cannot speak highly enough of these cars personally...!!! I'd love to get myself in a Vanden Plas 1300 one day as I think that tiddly Rolls-Royce thing is just spot on...!!!

Americans really can ruin anything maybe but if you are a petrol head theres a part of you saying "id give my right nut for a thrash in that" This kind of sums up my feelings on it. I don't like how it looks (the GT6 looked great as standard), but I bet it is fun to drive!

A few things I know about GT6s, especially the hardtops, is that even with the standard engine they're a bit on the noisy side, they get very warm and there's not much car wrapped around driver and engine anyway. To then run sidepipes down the sills from a massive V8 is mental, I can only begin to imagine how uncomfortable and noisy and horrible it is to be in...
... and I can also only being to imagine how wide the grin is on your face every time you survive a trip in it.
I like MrSpeedy's Trumpster too, and the Motorpunk's mission to drive a humble Metro to Morocco, you'll be fine!

That's only 2000 miles, I'd happily do that in a metro (if I could fit comfier seats, as my back seems to be getting pickier the older I get!)
