hello, sort of new here, i bought this from here a few weeks back as id just sold my ford capri and was looking for somthing cheap and rwd, this is my first non ford as ive only ever had fords so its all new to me ive not done much to it at the minute just a bit of paintwork and painted the wheels - i plan to keep it original just change the wheels to some turbovecs which i have which will make it a little more retro - its quite clean really just a few scabs here and there, 57odd thousand miles, 1500cc and rwd - what more could you ask for from a small classic J heres a few pics of it out and about wheels to come at somepoint
so thats all ive done for the minute louis

hey man, i was in contact with the old owner of this wanting to buy it also... congrats she looks lovely. and the choice of wheels is great too i happen to have a se of those on my 85rx7. looking forward to see how they sit on her. is yours deffinately 4x110.? most old mazdas of this age are 4x114.3 but this may well share some parts with the 1st gen rx7 so may explain that.

Kinda.... S3 RX-7 was the start of 4x114.3, 323 RWD's were all still the old 4x110 pattern. The 323 wagons were still RWD and sold alongside the new FWD 323 hatchbacks and sedans which had the new stud pattern. I had a D5 and 5spd in my 1300 for a while, not the most liveliest engine, but still surprised a few people. Lots of low down torque. You need to get onto Ausrotary. There were heaps of these wagons in Australia, most have disappeared though.

yes defo 4x110 and yes most of these wagons seem to be in aus and that type of area, only seen pics of a few in the uk but never one in person
before i bought thos wheels i had a set of rx7 alloys i was going to use
when i rang i was told it was sold pending pickup and he would ring if anything changed so i must have been the second person to ring..and it did fall through so i guess it was just pure luck

I have never seen these in estate here in South Africa - far prettier than hatch/sedan. Bookmarked!

exactly what i said ewok lol "but this may well share some parts with the 1st gen rx7 so may explain that. " i did intentionally miss out s3 as i mentioned mine being an 85.. so had to be s3. my a reg 323 gt being fwd and same shape as this wagon in op... is guess what 4x114.3 and so is my 323 wagon. 86-90 reg. and so is my 323 turbo 86 which is why i posed my question and was told the wagons share thinsg with s1/2 7's steering box etc. by the way look after that old girl not many left. keep us updated with some pics of those wheels on

Good looking car, looks to be in near mint condition 8)
Sometimes i wonder how a car could survive 30 years and still be in that good shape ? i guess some people really know how to take care of their cars xD
Ive been looking into cars of this type myself, but since I'm looking for a winther beater i just couldnt get myself to get a classic... i would end up caring to much for it haha.
anyways, grats on the new ride 8)

Nice car, I don't know if it's any interest but I've got a set of RX4 wheels which are a similar design but a 110mm PCD. I was going to use them on my Capri with wobble nuts. Unfortunately they're in dreadful condition but we might be able to do a deal on your wheels. Some pics of them here. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/156434/mazda-rx4-wheels#.VBk77Bt8MdU

Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.

Service items are all over eBay aus if you get desperate. Any 1.4 rwd 323 should have the same hoses. 1300s had two lower rad hoses - curse word idea. The very very early 323s were also 1.3 litres so they might have had the same crappy hose setup (the lower hoses join through a metal pipe which bolts to the chassis rail and rusts away).

I used to have a saloon as my first car, sweet ride mate never understood why they only did the 1500 in the estate and not the saloon and why they sold the RWD estate for years after the saloon went to FWD ?
