Not to everyones liking but i wanted to build a mini-camper van sort of thing for next summer and saw some potential in this. My mate was changing it for a T4 and i had my old merc 18s so a deal was done. Plans are - change the bonnet, clear coat the roof varnish, buy a plastidip kit (not sure what matt colour yet), arch the front and fit some front coilovers. It needed rear arches to house the rear 14x9.5 banded steels so mk1 golf on were added: before: after (this is how i bought it today): I am confident that it cannot be lowered anymore on the back as the rear arches are tubbed inside and the shackles are pretty low. I had to go through town with on my way home and a 70odd year old man stopped, scowled and i heard him mutter 'F me'

Cool little thing, i had a mk2 sdi for a while , lowered on coilovers flipped beam etc. They drive like they are on rails.
Was a camper converted one on ebay not long ago. Units down one side, and a seat / single bed on one side, that then folded out to create a double bed.

Well its now been graffiti painted blue and got some front coilovers on: Planning a patina gulf coloured van using the rust as the orange. So rusted top roof, down the rear doors and over the bumpers next using rust paint i think and order some decals up. Then some sanding to distress it some more. Maybe some checkered flag dishes on the steels with blue centers Next step is make the back end camper part so i have something to sleep in at the gathering.

I don't really get the rust thing as I spend most of my time battling it. But it works well on this, I love it!

As a striper and sign writer myself it's nice to see someone doing it correct for a change 'say no to vinyl'!
I'm not a fan if the rust paint tho!
But the lows yesss!!!

I remember seeing this when I had mine, it's safe to say it looks way ever now dude, I agree with some of the other comments though about the rust, I think it would look awesome all the same colour. The patina'd gulf signs are epic btw

Went to retro rides after making a camper conversion. The logistics of showing 4 cars was quite hard work! Seemed to work well table goes down to make a bed with cupboards underneath Going to make some cushions and give it a trim soon.

Hi Deanflowers, I'm very interested in the bed you built in the VW Caddy. I'm planning to buy one - if a bed will fit without too much hustle. Did your bed go over the passengers seat, up to the front window? I haven't been able to find the right dimensions of this Inca so I can't indicate wether a bed of at least 180cm will be duable. Would be very happy with a reply and perhaps some snapshots of the inside? Thanks a lot,
JTV

Hi JTV A double air bed is about 6 inches too long for the bed of the inca / caddy. If you slide the front seats forwards and have a hinged suppport to fill the gap between the back of the seat and the bed it fits exactly. The width is almost identical I don't have any other pictures than this one below sorry:
