The carbs I plan to fit have cold start mechanisms; I could connect the cars original choke cable to these, but I've seen the same carbs for sale on t'bay - from a seller who seems to know what he's doing - with that bit removed and blanked off. What should I do? Factors to consider? . . . Thanks in advance.

apparantly, Weber choke mechanism isn't the best, it's all or nothing, i had it hooked up on my Weber carbs, and found out it was indeed useless, so never use it.

In the past with Weber equipped cars (downdraughts) all I did was pump the throttle pedal a few times so the accelerator pump squirts neat petrol into the manifold for cold starts. Accepted starting was still better with a proper choke mechanism connected.

Quite common to not have the choke connected they don't work very well when they are connected its just as easy to pump the throttle 2 or 3 times works better than the choke .
