Hi there guys and gals of retrorides. I am currently planning on changing tbe escorts engine for something more modern and was wondering about the donor engines altenator, do modern altenators have a built in regulators or does the ecu regulate the voltage produced? Is it a case of bolt it on start it up and test the voltage?
The engine in question is a 1.7 zetec se from a 51 plate puma Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

I put a little alternator if a Micra on our k series mini clubman.
Couple of wires and it sorts itself out, self regulates etc.
Just look for wiring diagrams in google.
