Music, music, music as a well known oldie song intro goes.
Come on then guys who is driving more than five mins or so to Motofest and will therefore have the old in-dash music maker playing and what will your choices be?
Tapes for us oldies of course, and since we're covering some 120 miles we get a fair amount of playing time, so we'll choose from tapes which include:
Matt Munro "Days like These" (while watching out for tunnels and bulldozers). Elgar "Pomp and Circumstance no 1" (Fast lane music) Wagner "Gotterdammerung" (superb if there's a thunderstorm in progress) and of course "Ride of the Valkyries" Roy Orbison "Pretty Woman" "You got it" (def sunny motoring) Abba several from "Abba Gold" (just simply motoring)
Go on then, what's yours?

None. Just the sweet aural pleasure of the engine.
It may also because my car did not have a radio!

Excellent day out today, thanks to RetroWarwicK and all the other organisers/volunteers etc. I thought I recognised that Hillman Minx estate! Was a cracking day! thanks to all the organisers, its great to see so much variety and to be able to get so close to the action too! Even though I was nearly deafened by the Broadspeed Jag in the morning when he revved it as I was stood next to it

Epically tired after a 12hr and 14 hr weekend running motofest. I didn't get to see much, just snippets of the event but my highlight was getting the BRM back into Broadgate last night to recreate a 50 year old photo

Thanks to all the team for the weekend fun. You guys can take a well earned rest now, for a few days anyway, after all Cov Motofest 3 can't be that far off now can it?
Surprisingly we didn't see much of the action as, just like last year, Broadgate was busy with lots of very friendly Coventry people who wanted to talk cars, esp the ex-Jaguar folk. Lovely place to be and great fun.
Have personally requested that the weather man who said the rain would clear by 10 on the Sunday is sent to polar regions for the foreseeable future.
But rain or not it was still fun and we enjoyed it.
Will post some pics once I get them organised.
Thanks again to everyone who worked to make it happen and to ChasR for loud beeping me and saving me a dented bumper (cheers for that Chas)

Visited on Saturday - I really hope that this gets the future support and media coverage it deserves, to make it bigger and better next year! Big thanks - very much enjoyed the circuit especially. Gutted to have missed the Jag cars to run though. Would have been nice to have some more structure to the timings on the ring road, as constructive criticism! Was it much busier on the Sunday, as expected?

80 years of jag celebrated at motofest Thanks for the link Matt, Didn't manage to see any of that bit for real (sob, sob) as we were busy setting up on Broadgate on Saturday first thing, night-lagged as we were still trying to recover from only 4 hrs sleep after traversing Coventry Friday night/Sat morning at 1am. We'd been far later getting away than planned on Friday so sorry we couldn't drop in and wish you guys happy birthday. Was going to apologise for that sometime Saturday but we didn't bump into anyone to say so. We had an unbelievably slow and tortuous journey down the M6 motorway. Said motorway became a "no motorway" at junction 12 where it was closed and which closure threw us onto the A5 most of which seems to have become a play area for people who want to rebuild roundabouts and/or junctions while laying out an infinite supply of cones plus badly placed temporary signage. Finally back onto the M42 and on reaching Coventry commenced fighting a recalcitrant Satnav that couldn't deal with the junction closures. Every time we ambushed some poor soul to ask directions they went "You go down there, left, right onto the ring road................er no, that bit's closed............damn can't really help then mate.......eventually swung round and headed north west making our way back out of town out onto the Kenilworth Road and finally the Satnav picked a route that didn't involve it in driving at closed bits.............ah the joys of technology when nav'ing strange lands in the dark. We did get one sighting of those magnificent Jaguars as we did the end of day parade (half)lap on Saturday: we got stopped at junction 6 (I think) and the Jaguar fleet were let out onto the ring road to go to their pit area so the white V12 E-type ahead of us tagged onto the end and we followed them through the tunnels listening to the magnificent sound of those engines bouncing off the walls. Sadly all too soon over as they parked up. I'm still cursing myself for not having the vidcam with me on the Saturday lap!

Here we go trying to post in some pics: have added about 32 for Broadgate on Saturday and about 54 for the Sunday to Flickr, Don't think the mods would appreciate me delivering all those to here in one lump so track the rest of them back to Flickr: Tags: Coventry Motofest 2015 1st pic parking up on Broadgate at about 8am Saturday And the next one: later in the morning Nip across to Flickr for the others Next one: Sunday morning setting off for Broadgate about 8.30am and it's raining! Next one: Sunday morning on Broadgate: alongside a relative: Next one: More early birds in the rain And about 4pm the sun finally broke out properly! Don't forget the rest are on Flickr. Anybody wants a copy of a particular pic drop me a line.

Help please: anybody have any news of that other Coventry Motoring event: the Coventry Festival of Motoring? They gave us a leaflet on Broadgate and we've dropped emails etc but got absolutely nothing in reply. Is the "rescued" event still on?
We'll be back in Coventry on Sat 27th (fingers crossed) for the Jaguar Super Saturday so if anyone wants to pop over and say hello feel free.

The Stoneleigh event is nothing to do with Coventry MotoFest so you are best starting another thread if you want to find out more about it.

Thanks for the message Matt. Not too sure if, along with their not taking up club spaces at Motofest, I'm treading in some kind of classic car family fallout. Well aware it's got nothing to do with Coventry Motofest.
Simply asked here as many of the people on here might also be Festival of Motoring attendees so might know something about whether or not it was on. rather than asking in the wilderness of a new thread.

All clubs that confirmed attendance at MotoFest did turn up..... Anyway, just to steer this thread back on course, here's a word from our sponsors- Matt
