Er...great...if I want to go to a disco I can stay at this end and do it. Anything up to date and properly specific about classic cars when where and how as yet?

I love the ring road nightclub idea, when I first read it I instantly thought of something out of the early fast and furious films, just roll up in my 90's Japanese coupe with lambo doors, some house playing in the background

Does anyone as yet have anything approaching a firm idea of the plan for the classic cars? I'm not interested in fluff about nightclubs, whichever band is opening the event etc. As a dyed-in-the-wool classic car enthusiast I'm interested in seeing the classics and their road displays but so far I've found nothing concrete re the "plan".
There are now just 10 weeks to Motofest and I can't believe it's still all ad-hoc! I know most of the team are giving up tons of spare time to this (and all thanks to all of them) and yes there will always be last minute things, last minute cancellations, last minute agreements/requests to appear, in something of this scale, but that shouldn't apply to the core activities at this late stage.
For instance, as yet I haven't even been able to find out when the ring-road will actually be closed and how many lanes that will involve. As a non-local that sort of thing is, shall we say, just a teensy bit important when I'm travelling around the venue area.
Where will the classic cars be and when? When, if at all, will they be displaying on the parade laps?
If you live locally you can maybe wait till the evening before or just pop along on the day(s) and play it by ear. If, like us, you are travelling a fair distance in a mighty gas guzzler and having to book hotel accommodation for the duration, plus organising things to be covered back home while we are away then such things need to be booked and bloody soon! That requires some concrete knowledge, (in our case as to what the classics are doing), to decide if it's worth bothering. The trip to Motofest amounts to a not inconsiderable expense total and if the classics are going to be little more than a last minute sideshow then I'd rather spend the funds directly on my own classic.
If I've missed these details can somebody please point me at the source and make me a happy bunny again? Please don't just refer me to the generic feeds out there I'm looking for some solid answers. Absolutely loved last year's Motofest and want to be there this year but so far it's like pulling teeth!

Last gasps of dying people losing the will to live out here, esp the will to spend some £400 in costs (fuel, food, hotels etc) whilst totally unable to obtain enough information to firm up go/no go! At the moment it seems all communications go into Motofest and zilch useful comes out! I'm not interested in website fluff about night clubs etc. like most serious classic addicts I'm interested in cars: who, what, when and where.
Communication is the name of the game. We can't be the only people who need to plan in advance. It's a longish haul from here so we'll be staying over (Fri till Sunday/possibly Monday) which means we've got pets to arrange for, work cover for the Friday to arrange, house "watch" to arrange, hotels to book etc.

Here is some info about the aims and goals of Coventry MotoFest, which is an FREE event organised by 8 core UNPAID volunteers for the people of coventry, the general public and car enthusiasts: coventrymotofest.com/content/coventry-motofest-vision?utm_content=buffer685b5&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=bufferIf anybody has expressed interest via the web sign up forms in bringing their classic car, classic bike (or club) to MotoFest, then emails with further details will be sent out during april and early may as we firm up details (still 8 weeks to go). Note that there is no requirement to pre-book your classic car, just turn and park on a first come first served basis (clubs do need pre-booking though). all event details, schedule and directions will all be made available on the website nearer the time. Any donations to the MotoFest charity would be warmly welcomed. The core aim of the MotoFest charity is to support young people who may not have had the best start in life, by engaging them through automotive activities into education and training. Regards Matt

Aye, I was going to mention that . That looks to be quite an addition to bring along! I see that the Ring Road Night club has been cancelled after recent events which is quite understandable.

The unfortunate events that happened in a coventry nightclub a few weeks back made it very difficult for us to continue with the tunnel club. Over 1000 tickets had been sold so was proving a popular concept of with the people of Coventry.

It's sad to see that there are still some pedantic moaners ruining the image of classic car ownership. There was me thinking RetroRides was shaking off that image and above the sticklers. Keep up the good work RetroWarwicK and all involved.

Regards Matt Hello Matt, Thank you 101% for a very helpful reply. I apologise for playing Devil's advocate out here but somebody had to ask the questions. Real detail had gone hellishly quiet after the pre-Xmas message re the 3 categories of road action. I'm more than aware how much effort is involved in what you guys are doing and that it is unpaid (let's hope you all get your just rewards one day when the people who nominate the New Year's gongs finally notice you lot and your efforts). Contrary to my Devil's advocate approach some of us out here would willingly laud you people to high heaven for your efforts (we've been to other classic car shows of the "meet in a soggy field and talk to each other" variety, so Motofest has them all beaten by far), but it was becoming harder and harder to have anything new to say to classic owning friends with no hard information to pass on to people, so again thank you for the update. Nice to see the aim of the charity, something I'm more than happy to support as I've spent time during my engineering years training/assessing young apprentices and also recently teaching electronics/engineering in a secondary school, so I know the problems involved in getting young people "back on the road" are well worth addressing. In terms of donating to the charity is that via the donate to Motofest button or is it something separate and elsewhere? Thanks again Peter

Sad to hear the news about the ring road club but I can understand your reasons. They need to demolish that other club as its not the first time there's been problems there :\ its a shame really as I did have good memories of it from my uni days when it was Platinum

Did anything ever happen about the RR area? Or am I missing something and we just need to apply for static display?
