Here is a chance to purchase what the Lanchester Owners Club say is the only LD 10 Shooting Brake they know of. In fact when I asked them about it they said that no Shooting Brakes were built on an LD chassis. This car needs a FULL restoration both bodily and mechanically (the seats are ok!) and will make a stunning vehicle when completed. From the research I have done I believe the running chassis when new was bodied by Mumfords, Abbey Garage, Plymouth, the car has a Plymouth registration number. They sold cars and were also wagon body builders plus bus and coach builders. There is a Mumfords plaque in the car. The reason we think the car was bodied as a Shooting Brake from new is because from the windscreen back everything has been hand made in timber, even the doors are timber whereas if it had been converted later in its life the existing doors etc would have been used. The windscreen surround and roof are a one piece pressing and a different profile to the saloons. The car is not quite a "barn find" but no far from that. I found out about the car in May this year from a gent doing a house clearance. I contacted the owner and he said his father bought it in 1958 from his brother who was a surgeon captain in the Royal Navy based in Devon. It was taken off the road in 1963 with an engine problem. The car was put into the rear yard of the house and the engine was removed and there it stayed untill May this year when I rescued it. The car is complete (the engine is there but seized solid and out of the car). I STRONGLY suggest that if any body is interested in the car they should view it, or have some one view it for them before committing themselves to it.The storage space is needed for another vehicle so I am open to offers on this car. I have the V5C in my name. The car is in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. I have many more pics e-mail me for more or Tel Ian on 07769626675.
