I was going to post this on the Audi forum I found but thought you blokes would have a better idea of what I need to do. Both myself & the other half have now flattened the battery on our 1994 Audi 80 cabriolet having left the lights on. She wants me to fit a buzzer to remind her/us they are on but I could do with some idiot proof advice regards wiring it in. I don't want it to sound as soon as the ignition is turned off but rather when a door is opened. Lights left on obviously. It's probably dead easy to do but I'm struggling to think how. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

dead simple, 12vbuzzer, wire one side of the buzzer to the wire that feeds the side/parking lights, and the other side to the interior light door switch. open the door, the door switch goes to earth, and the buzzer sounds as it is getting a feed from the lights

Did I say simple? Having eventually found a wire under the dash that went live with the lights on I decided to remove the rear quarter interior trim panel to access the door switch wires. Audi 80 cabriolet remember. Decided the job would be easier with roof down as the rear seat back has to come out. Forgot about mole grips, ratchet, socket & screw driver I'd left on the roof. Without going into too much detail there was a lot more of our car spread over the back yard than I was expecting for the sake of a few wires. Think I'd rather do the cam belt & water pump again than wire another buzzer in! Tools reappeared with the roof back up minus a 24mm socket. That really bugging me now but it got dark. It's done, & if I never have another phone call from the other half to say the car won't start then it was worth it.. . I think.
