Apologies for this sounding like an ebay advert. Basically I'll be putting it on there tomorrow so have just written an advert and copied the information.
Up for sale here is a 1970 Beetle project. I brought this as a partially started project with the intention of completing it, however ill health means realistically it’s beyond me at the moment, so I’ve decided to let it go.
BODY:
As mentioned the car is a 1970 model, but it has had earlier panels fitted to make it look pre 67. These include wings, lights, aprons, bonnet and decklid. The car was resprayed about six years back, but since then has sat in a slightly damp garage. As such the paintwork, whilst fresh, isn’t perfect. It has microblisters, and some blistering in places. I have tried to show the worst. These are only noticeable up close really though, and from five yards the car looks great. Windows need fitting, but appear all there including seals.
ENGINE:
According to the previous owner the engine is a 1641, however I cannot confirm this as I have no solid proof. It is still registered as a 1300 on the log book. The engine turns freely by hand, and has no end float. The previous owner lost the keys, so I have not had the car running. I have purchased another set of keys and ignition barrel, but have not got round to trying to get the car running.
CHASSIS & RUNNING GEAR:
This is the biggest area of issue. Unfortunately when parked up water got into the driver’s side floorwell and rusted it out. As such, the car will require a new driver’s side floorpan. The rest of the car appears solid from what I can see. The car is fitted with an adjustable beam up front, and a set of chrome interceptor alloys with good tyres. Car rolls fine and brakes seem to work.
INTERIOR:
When I bought the car it came with a fabric interior, which had been ruined by the damp. I have since sourced an original set of seats to go in. There are no door cards or carpet as this was too far gone to save, but obviously these are readily available from numerous retailers. Headliner requires finishing.
ELECTRICS:
All electrics appear present, just needs reconnecting after the respray.
From what I can see the car is 95% complete, it just needs piecing back together, and the floorpan replacing. Realistically, I figured I could do this for under £500 in total and have a car that would make an ideal daily driver. However as mentioned above, a change in my health means projects are off the cards for a while, so it’s just going to end up sitting in the garage not getting done. The car is located in Minster, Kent (ME12 postcode). Feel free to come check it out. Any questions please ask.
