help with hyd clutch diagnosis

i have a car with a hydraulic clutch , the clutch still drags slightly until the very bottom of the pedal travel which isnt ideal

now how do i diagnose whats up , i have bled the system various ways and its know to be alkward , but could it be a failing master cyl or slave if so how do i diagnose which is faultly

In most cars it tends to be the slave which is faulty, but before you go replacing both of them I would check the following:

• Is there any dampness present at either the slave cylinder or master cylinder
• What kind of pipe connects the two? Is it a solid steel pipe or a rubber flexi - If the latter that may also cause issues (breaking internally)
• How did you bleed it? Some slave cylinders need to be fully compressed in order to bleed effectively (Triumph ones often require this)

no obvious dampness

its a part steel part flexi

i bled it as is ..so youre saying take off the slave and clamp it so the piston is fully in?

Is the slave cylinder internal or external on this secret car ??
if it's internal clamping it shut will be awfully difficult but i guess by your answer that this secret car has an exteranl slave ??
If this secret car was say a transit it's a well know problem and they really need reverse bleeding, is it a transit ??
If it is a citroen, they are very prone to leaking if they new slave wasn't supplyed with a new seal for the end of the pipe, even from citroen some kits don't have the seal some do, is it a citroen ??
Fiesta are know for pedal problems, civic are a PITA to bleed, on some cars i remove the slave, zip tie it shut and hold it above the master to bleed them, some i don't.
