Hi guys, been asked to share my nearly finished Mk1 Fiesta project track car. (He's called Kermit, incase anybody's wondering)
I'm a bit of a Fiesta Whore, currently own the Mk1, the Mk2, a Mk5 ZS track car, a Mk6 and a Mk7.
Some of you may have seen my old Escort at Retro Rides '13 (and thankyou to whoever helped me un-beach it I still owe you a pint!)
And the just sold daily Mk2 Fiesta
Which I had a forged Zetec Turbo for, but sold it to fund the Mk1.
Along with a bit of a flirt
There a A LOT of photos (literally 100's but I won't bother with the older ones) so I'll let them do the talking.
But I bought it 4 years ago, starting life as an 1100 L, I used it daily for about a year, then bought a 1600 XR2 engine with a bcf2 camshaft and Mk4 escort gearbox.
The 1600 let go pretty quickly, with piston slap and the like, but the reason for the car coming off the road again (and has been since) was the driveshaft having a disagreement with the gearbox at 60mph on the A414
Since it's time off the road, I completely bare metalled the shell and welded up the loom holes in the bulkhead to hide the loom.
Both front wings, both doors, front panel, both sills, a section of the roof, the rear valance, both rear corners, and tailgate. (It was originally sold in Brighton and the sea air had an obvious effect)
Cut the arches out and tubbed the rear ready for wide arches, and more lows
The car has been painted by myself, on my drive, with VW Oak Green. One of the best colours ever created. Ever. Everything has been done by me.
The next big thing was the powerplant, Crossflow. The bottom end was done at Oselli Engineering, and the cylinder head I sent down to Jeff Harris for some attention.
Full Spec reads;

How I bought it
It now looks like this.

Built the engine up
Box on
And in the car
More up to date pic
Interior so far
That's all I can be bothered to put up hahaha
Has doors/poly windows all round now but can't find the most recent pics anywhere, think I forgot to put them on photobucket, oh well.
It's only a few weeks off the road test, even though it doesn't look it at all
Full 30 page build thread can be found here for anyone wanting to bore themselves to death
Build thread
As said on another thread, when it's done I'm going to be driving as much as I can, all through winter, it's not a garage queen.
I'll be trying to get to as many retro meets as possible, no brand snobbery from me, just a love for anything old
Cheers
David
