Hi all,
Some of you may have seen my build thread on here where I'm rebuilding my Davrian (among other projects).
What i need help with is the brakes. I have decided to use polo 9n alloy calipers on the rear, but I'm struggling to find something suitable for the front. I need them to fit inside a 13" wheel, i don't mind really if they are for vented discs or not, my main criteria is that they be alloy and not steel to try and keep the unsprung weight down.
So far i can only find some from some models of Peugeot 106, but these seem to have odd sliders? and possibly some that come off of a VW Lupo 1.2tdi? but i cant find much concrete info on them?!
Does anyone have any ideas/info/pics that might help me out?
Thanks in advance.

whats odd about the bendix sliding caliper?
found on most 205's in non vented, but vented on the 1.6 gti, same caliper found on the series 1 106's.

I couldnt find any good pictures of them, or the caliper bracket, but the sliders don't seem to be symetrical either side of the piston? would like to see the bracket to see the bolt holes to the upright.
What size disc are they for?
ettorebugatti, originally i was going to fit a cast iron set of the mini 4 pot calipers but decided that they were far too heavy, and to be honest i think the 4 pots will be overkill on a sub 600kg car. Plus ideally I'm looking for something at the cheaper end of the scale. Appreciate the suggestion though.
Cheers

Pug 306 td calipers are about the bigest you can get that fit under 13s. I had them on my 205 rallye and they were damn good.
They have a much larger piston than the 205 version.

Skoda Estelle, Mini Metro should give ample breaking on the front be pretty cheap. I've just last weekend thrown out some brand new Skoda estelle callipers as I was bored of tripping over them and after many failed ebay sales I'd had enough.

I'd go with an aftermarket light 4 pot too, you'll get all the stopping power you need from them, run a Bias valve to sort the balance out and a suitably large master cylinder. Is the car servo assisted?

Got those alloy 4pot calipers (vented) on my old mini, under 10 inch rims. Engine puts out 150bhp and weighs about 650kgs. Superb braking....stops on the proverbial 6pence.....

what about the standard girling calipers you get on spittys/heralds? think they use them on caterhams too. they'll fit under a 13" wheel easily, nice selection of disks and pads from road to full race and you can pick up a set for next to nothing.

I used some fiat panda calipers on the back of my 410 a few years ago and from memory they were alloy and very light. They were certainly easy to adapt and worked well.

I use Fiat X1/9 calipers on the front of my racing Clan The're alloy and more than up to the job with decent pads. Also use the Fiat discs and have had no problem with them. Worth checking on calipers from the Fiat small car range. I've found no need to but if you wanted to you could use the calipers and vented discs from the Uno Turbo.
