Fiesta ST. I've always had retros or crapboxes as my dailies, so this was my first "proper" car. Not the fastest, but fast enough and handles quite nicely. Plus has enough luxuries (6 CD changer, leather seats etc) without having any hand holding gadgets (other than ABS). Other than snapping a coil (a common fault apparently), it's been pretty solid.

2010 Fiat Panda (not my photo but looks identical to this) Not the sort of thing that would appeal to many traditionally minded petrolheads but I like it. It's dead cheap to run, fits in any parking space and is surprisingly nice to drive on country roads. (less fun on bumpy suburban streets!) It's also all mine and paid in full, doesn't belong to the bank, leasing company or any payday loan sharks, unlike a lot of more prestige cars.

After seven years this is still my daily By far the best car I've ever owned totally reliable, bulletproof engine now only on 135,000 miles Just run in!!, C250 turbodiesel Other cars have come and gone over the seven years, but this one has proven to be a real gem Still in superb nick inside and out, minor rust on the front wings which I will get repaired this summer I've had a few offers to sell it, but it's priceless to me and I don't think I'd ever find a more reliable car

I have no interest or enjoyment in driving any new car - I am a far worse driver due to being bored out of my mind and completely uninspired by the total lack of originality, poor design, un-necessary computers etc. Daily for 8 years - Beautiful to look at and perfect 4 speed auto with carb. No computers! Was completely inconspicuous when I bought it, now everyone looks at it! 75,000 miles Saab 9000 2.3CSE Turbo manual. Running stage 3 ECU & trionic t7 boost pressure control valve. So well made and dependable (once I resoldered EVERY GOD-DAMN RELAY) SAAB 900 T16 turbo with red apc. Owned for 10 years, 270,000 miles, and I love it to bits. Finally learnt to weld and now she's coming back to life!

Passat B5.5 Estate 1.9tdi on cheapo coilovers. It's more the family wagon than full on daily. My actual drive to work daily is way too standard at the moment/dull to be showing images of, haha ;-)

As of last week, its RiP to the MG... ... & RiP to the Freelander L Series... ... not sure exactly what's going to happen to them, but its hello to this as my daily: There's something missing at the back right now (clue above!) but I'll hopefully be able to sort that out shortly so the full range of duties can resume! Marc I've nearly bought one of those about 5 times now, once a year really since I visited nurburing in 2012 and they were everywhere and rightly so. They were very impressive. What do you think of it? I nearly bought one at the start of the year but I opted for a R53 instead which I am incredibly happy with and I imagine I will be for the foreseeable future. Are they as good as everyone says they are? Probably the best colour for it bar liquid yellow which is like gold dust of course.

It's sensational to drive on winding B roads. Dare I say it, even better than the 205 GTI. The levels of grip and speed that you can carry into bends is amazing. The suspension (mine has the cup pack on it) has that combination of compliance and stiffness that the French pull off so well. It's never unsettled by bumps and lumps in the road and doesn't get thrown off course as a result. Just hangs on and pulls itself round. I can see why they're so popular, wish I'd bought one years ago. Best thing is that it was only £1500 and has averaged 30mpg so far. I love the colour of it too. Thought it might be too in your face originally, but now I think it's ace. It throws up the odd strange electrical fault, but seems to be wearing the miles well. Would be good to see how it compares with a Mini, which I've only experienced briefly on a test drive years ago. I rate the Cooper S very highly though!
