Right, as a small sidetrack to my build thread I've come up against a small problem.
My engine doesn't want to turn over when i bump the key.
the car has a brand new wiring loom as is connected up correctly (going by the diagrams)
here's the one I've been following, There are a couple out ther that contradict eachother but this seems to be the most reliable.
The issue i have seems to be with the starter solenoid wiring (Not the unit as i've tested it)
the signal wire from the ignition key is working fine (tested) (white with red tracer)
what seems to be the issue is that it has no way of earthing to activate the solenoid and run the starter. the wires just go off to the coil (all live with ignition)
and i'm stumped.
Here's a picture of how it's wired now. Any clues will be helpful....
Note the white/pink wire and white/yellow wire as per the diagram, and the white/red wire on the other side.
This is as per the diagram, and the solenoid isn't clicking/engaging. some say the solenoid is meant to earth to the body, so i made sure the baseplate was earthed.
as a guy who studies electronics this is irritating as it doesn't seem to make much sense
