Realistic chrome paint for plastic?

Hi all

I've bought some plastic k11 Micra centre caps to fit with my smoothie wheels to give the baby moon look but I'd like to give them a chrome look.

Original plan was to smooth away the logo and chrome wrap them but I quite like it now I have them in hand.

I've read a number of reviews of chrome paint, mainly plastikote but most say it doesn't look anything like chrome.

Can anyone recommend a paint / technique that does work?

Or could the logo still look okay underneath a wrap?

Any other options / opinions?

Cheers automatik, yeah those are kind of sheets I was thinking of, good point about the vinyl being too creased to cover the rest of the disc too.

What about chrome powder coat,

I thought the temperature needed for powdercoating was too high for plastics?

I used the plastikote chrome paint a couple of years ago on bits for my anglia, found it better using a laquer on top. Bit trial and error but it did come out well in the end!!

Cheers v8kitten - any memories over what primer / undercoat you used? It seems better over gloss black?

Cheap grey primer and cheap black gloss, from poundland I think it was!! Then chrome paint then laquered it. I tried it over blue aswell, and purple. Not much difference in the end product but there was a slight difference. U could try it over white aswell, depends what look you're after really

I tried to paint a grille with chrome paint. It looked okayish but when I put lacquer on it went grey.
