You know, the stuff Ed China raves about.
Does it work? Is it worthwhile?
Background of why I am asking is that recently, my wife had a non fault accident in her daily 2002 Focus 1.6 Auto. Over the last 2 years, it had everything from a new cambelt, through to brakes, coil pack and even a new Cat. We did all the work as at only 60k from new, we hoped to run it into the ground.
Bang - Insurance write off = no daily to get wifey to work!
Plan - Use some of our meagre savings to get her a new hack URGENT
It turns out I managed to find a 2002 2.0se Accord VTEC auto with FSH and 48k from new for £1995 - happy days you'd think?
Well after me convincing MrsSmokeEm that as the new car had a 4sp auto, the MPG figure would be the same or better than the old ride....
Er, no - She is averaging just 25mpg on the daily commute (Aldershot - Guildford on hogs back)
I really was hoping for 30+ so my question is... Anyone tried this Terra-Clean and if so, did it work?
Good and bad experiences welcome

no it wont work, you need a smaller engine and a stick.

I'd start with one of the many fuel/injector treatments out there. Use it in a couple tanks of fuel and try a good dose of carb cleaner through the air intake (with the engine running) You might be surprised what a difference it can make.

Accords are well known for being thirsty. You might get a small improvement with a good service and an injector cleaner but I don't think you'll get into the 30s.

Even my 1.2 micra got just over 30 because it was an auto!! Not heard of Terraclean but I bet WD is paid to use it (advertising).
Sell it and get a manual diesel, my 200 quid Astra has topped 70mpg

Used it on a customers car to get it through the MOT (or rather took it in to be done) and it worked but then i've also got emmisions failed cars through with injector cleaner and a blast up the motorway so i can't comment on wether it's better than most fuel system cleaners or not but from the reports i've read on PH and other places it does lower emmisions on most vehicals it's used on, there are allways the snake oil cryers who refuse to beleive it can work cos they don't understand it (although there is plenty of snake oil sellers out there) some products really do do what they say on the tin LOL i said do do

a heavier car than the focus and engines generally considered to be a bit more thirstier. An italian tune up and a couple of tanks of cleaner will improve things. probably been pootled about for most of its 48k miles

superglue a golf ball to the underside of the loud pedal, that should improve the fuel consumption......

we had terraclean do one of our work vans £180 and 3 and a half hours later it hadn't made a ounce of difference my advice is save your hard earned and do a fuel cleaner treatment yourself

terraclean is just racing fuel that burns at a higher temperature which cleans the carbon out the system
I'd just chuck a gallon of thinners in with half a tank of petrol, works a treat!
try it at your own risk, like I sAY it cleared carbon out of my old s13 silvia! I know it did cause a mate pu one of those mechanics camera down a plug hole before & after

Don't use more than 10% to 15% thinners.....it will eat seals etc.....easy decoke ...get the engine hot, air filter off, bucket of water & sponge, hold sponge in front of the air intake & tease out water from the sponge whilst holding the engine at high rev's. Its like having 10 pints of beer, & a very hot curry....cleans the system right out! ( if a diesel engine, be very care full how much water goes in! )

Use a water sprayer set on mist, way safer than a sponge, there are safe ways to do a bodge and there are risky ways to do a bodge, basicly your steam cleaning the combustion chambers, in the same way the cylinder that had a coolant leak is uber clean when you wip the head off to fix the leak/gasket, just don't use too much water and hydrolock the engine (that would be BAD)
