Haven't done much to it in the past week or so but sunday i decided it was time to remove all the tools from the floor of the garage and get them into their new home. makes such a difference not having to scrabble in a tiny toolbox or around the floor and all for the princely sum of £30. After that I gave it a wash then I drove it to a friends for a shindig, on the way back the throttle kept sticking so i limped it home and had a look over it to find it seemed to be a case that the throttle cable was too loose and not allowing it to return properly so a quick adjustment and a run to work this morning and it is perfect again.

I decided today to sort the clutch out, It has been intermittently not functioning the gears have been grinding and sometimes just not going in at all. This was put down to master cylinder issues after bleeding it thoroughly so come today armed with a new master and slave cylinder i valiantly attacked the job at hand, the new master cylinder went on nicely. but then came the slave cylinder side off that came nicely but detaching the flexi proved somewhat difficult and did this, so tomorrow requires yet another trip to rimmers (I'm so glad that they are only 3 miles away) and to my mates garage to get a new hardline made up, on that note does anyone know what size the unions are?

They are a pain to bleed with new units at the best of times, the Master Cylinders just don't have enough grunt for the size of pipe. I ended up reverse bleeding when I went through the same.

Yeah I am finding that myself but I shall persevere. On a plus point it is all bolted up and semi bled now

slight loss of concentration due to pretty girls in floaty dresses in the sunshine gave this result today doesn't looks worse than i think it is, bent wing and bonnet and overrider and grill, will see what the insurers body shop says if they say its uneconomical then i won't claim and ill slowly put it right or i could get the pay out and buy it back then get a local chap to sort the body out for me.

Adam if they do decide it isn't viable I don't suppose the second aluminium bonnet you have might be for sale?

Just a quick one as the insurers are collecting the car tomorrow and are meant to be dropping me off a courtesy car, will the courtesy car have an effect on my repair costs/payout should the car be written off?

Just a quick one as the insurers are collecting the car tomorrow and are meant to be dropping me off a courtesy car, will the courtesy car have an effect on my repair costs/payout should the car be written off? I wouldn't let them take it, tell them you want the assessor to come and view the car.

I told them to cancel the claim this morning and have decided to bite the bullet and take the cost of repairs on the chin.
So the search for replacement panels begins now.

At risk of urinating on your deep fried potato snack, I used to handle accident claims so I feel obliged to chime up!
Normally (where there's no protected no-claims bonus), you'll lose your bonus if your insurance company have to pay out on your behalf. I'm guessing that you're letting them deal with the Audi diffuser, so regardless of what you do about the damage to your car, your bonus is gone.
Just something for you and your passengers to bear in mind.
Feel free to pm me if I can help with anything. Regardless, good luck with the repairs, these look great in white.

shame about the prang, but it's done now. Anyhow, hopefully the repairs wont harm the wallet too much. It does look good bar the ding though

Hi Ed, didn't realize you were on here, or that you'd got an MG now - looks tidy apart from the damage, hope you get it sorted without too much hassle.
