Not posted for a while. Been browsing online and decided Kei cars are awesome. Found this charade ( also known as a Mira in Japan )£30 road tax 50mpg cheap insurance etc etc. Not a bad winter car i thought whilst i tinker with the MX5. So a trip to london and £800 later i came back with this. 100k miles on the clock
Put Japanesey size and offset plates
Decided it needed lowering after seeing some inspiration..
So started to take it apart and see what kinda stuff i would need as parts for these aren't available here. Initially i thought Lupo coilies as they are seperate springs and shocks on the rear. But it turned out to have twin eye bolts on the rear shocks. My friend conveniently had some brand new Mk2 punto coilovers in his garage. These happened to have the shocks I needed and the fronts were a close match too.
Standard bits off
New fronts pre fettling
With a bit of filing drilling and notching etc they were a nice fit despite a bit of positive camber...
Camber sorted
Rear was a case of chopping 2 coils out and i ended up not using the punto rear shocks as they are about half the length of the standard shocks so there is no droop at all. I think i will need to go lower before i can put them on.
Then it decided I wasn't allowed to select any gears so... a couple bolts had to be loosened and...
Turned out to be a dodgey release bearing.
Clutch wasnt too bad but i dropped a new one in anyway.
Here is your everyday Size comparison.
Random bagged 7 series friend..
My friend also had this oil cooler from his turbo clio lying around... Had to be done such Zokusha!
So thats it for now. I tried these wheels on 13x6j et13. sounded perfect on paper and look the tittts lol
Poked over an inch so its back to the drawing board for some skinny cool looking wheels. Set of these might work which i used to have on my polo
Any ideas welcome lol
