Hi all, I'm buying a kit car loosely based on the 250swb and could do with some visual help with my ideas. 1/ Barn find good but worn ex racer. Dark blue Ecurie Ecosse colours? 2/ hot rod style with 17" salt flat wheels. Cream or white possibly. 3/ Pro Touring. 4/ Sled. skirts, whitewalls, etc. Not a serious possibility but fun to see how it would come out 5/Jack up, supercharger, real '70's style (Not serious as above) Any ideas ? Thanks, Bob.

Thanks guys. I love gassers but probably not going that route. Looking forward to some other variations. The car is based on a Z3 but is still at the prototype stage, hopefully moulds will be ready in the spring. Cheers, Bob.

Ah, the Tribute kit. Maybe base the photoshop on the actual product. Just go for a period colour (but not red), get it low and put the widest wheels ou can find in there. Some Hallibrand replicas with chevy offset could work I recon.

I looked at their website. They produce some very interesting retro inspired stuff that looks easy enough to both buy and execute.
Good luck with your project.
I'd think a "barn find" look would be brilliant, but it'd need to be very carefully done to pull it off.

I looked at their website. They produce some truly hideous stuff. Have you ever looked at some of the stuff on this site that we waste our time and money on. One mans meat etc

The 250GT SWB is my all time favourite GT/Coupe. Now I know there's going to be a kit car replica of one I may have to have one in the future. Maybe drop some modern BMW engine/box bits in?

Agree ,the tired old racer/barn find look is what I'd go for.

Don't they already produce a similar one for an mx5 base? Remember seeing one a while back. Edit: they did, and I found one almost there for sale! I'm a fan ebay.to/1xeKh2K

Muchwant. How would you go about the 'old racer' look? Got to hide the GRP, can't have bits rubbed back to "metal". That's what I would do too, but how?

I'd be looking at old photos of 250SWB racers and do a copy of a particular car, then simulate some wear and tear. Colours might be a problem, lots of period photos may be B&W. Good luck with this and do a build thread, I've thought about kits like these for ages and I'm keen to see how much work/skill is involved.

There is a 'rust' paint that people are using about the place now. Slap some of that under your colour, rub everything back, Pauline's your supposed father's brother's wife.
