Cheers lads. Glad you dig it. I am not planning on going all out with bias boxes and engine swaps etc. I just want something clean, nice n low, that I can cruise about in, the car came with fresh paint so for once in my life no silly amounts of work required. I'm loving the Mercedes, wish I'd have thought about getting one sooner!

Don't cut the springs yet, just swap the spring pads for thinner ones.

It should have rubber pads on top of the springs, are they missing?

I didn't see any!? Just like a thin rubber bit that stretches over the spring.

right I have googled what you mean, you can get the rubber bit that goes on the spring in various thicknesses. I have a very thin one, IIRC maybe a few mm thick. I thought that was for dampening spring vibration and wouldn't really affect ride heights.

after seeing the E21 in the flesh I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this one. Everything you added to the e21 really suited it.

single dot spring pads are the thinnest.
absolutely love the colour and direction you are heading with this!
when the lower pannels are painted body colour like this they are so much more pleasing on the eye

thanks for educating me, I haven't had a merc before.
Ill take a coil off the rear I'm pretty happy how the front sits. There's still loads to go before it actually gets loose, and of course the b8 shocks are a much shorter shock anyways.
I gotta say its pretty well screwed together, I don't have a single rattle or squeak (apart from the blower fan on low speeds).

New wheels will look beautiful, get rid of those awful ones that are on at moment, it will transform car. I have had an urge for one if these for years, had an 83 280E for a short while years ago, but coupe and cabriolet have aged so much better.

so since getting the car i have only really driven it a hand full of times, but i actually appreciate the wafting and comical acceleration (for what it is) when you engage the kickdown. i genuinely love this car but my e21 track monster is going to need even more funds then i imagined so i will have to sell this beauty at one point. Still though the fun is always in the building and shiny stuff is awesome. I have finally got the rims refurebished and all thats left to do is basically put the bolts in. Firstly had to get them blasted off and i got them to repolish the rims as they all had scratches and marks. bare alloy and polish lips looks so awesome, id have just clear coated them but as i want some longevity that wasnt really an option. So I took the rims over to Mals customs to get sprayed in a decent colour. i spent literally minutes with a whole bunch of paint chips and settled on a very light mercedes gold but mal didnt like it so he added a bit more silver in and I'm absolutely chuffed with the finish and colour.. just waiting till the end of the month now for some tyres, I'm a little worried that such a big car will look right on 17s but then again I'm not after a gangster pimp look just oem+ i think it will be sufficient.
