72, Cortina estate, with Pug TD engine, the temp gauge is not reading any thing, the gauge is good. Could some one please measure the resistance of the Ford Pinto temp' sender please? Thanks, found this on the net......... '' Testing the coolant temperature sensor is a very quick process. With the use of a digital volt ohm meter you can easily tell if the sensor is faulty or not. Connect the black lead of the digital ohm meter to a solid ground. This can be any solid piece of metal. Next, connect the red lead to the terminal end of the coolant temperature sensor. There's 3 or 4 differant ones, your's being a cortina it will be the white ring sender you need the readings from (the differant colours are differant resistances). I have an intermotor cat here but it doesn't say the resistance range i also have the correct white sender here but no test meters till i get to work tomorrow but you really need to test them cold and up to temp whilst in the car to get the correct range, at cold all will be virtually the same resistance. EDIT: Nothing in the factory cortina manual either, seems sender resistance is uber secret or sumink, even the intermotor catalog shows everthing appart from temp sender ranges, shows oil pressure switch ranges, rad fan on and off ranges but buggerall for temp senders

I have to fit a new (black) sender into my P100 anyway this week, i'll swap the white one in first and see what that reads and let you know i know the white one reads lower than the black one on the gauge cos i took the white (wrong) one out and fitted the black (correct) one last year. Might not be till friday though i have a clio engine to fit and get running first, should be simple but something will go wrong lol if i get a chance i'll get it in tomorrow but can't promise

I think when I checked mine it had between 60 and 80 ohm at running temperature, BUT i've no idea if this is correct as god alone knows what sender is fitted and my temperature gauges don't work..
