Can I find out the reg number from the Vin number?

Hi all

I picked up a new ride from a breaker.
Its been off the road for 14 years and the V5 has been lost and the reg plates have been removed.

I was given a full receipt..

So I know I need to send off a V62 form to the DVLA along with £25 to get the V5 in my name.
But to do that I need both the Vin and Reg..

So first of all is there somewhere I can find out the reg number with the Vin?

What car is it?

If you know the VIN most motorfactors have links to the dvla database now and have the info, also the UK manufacturer/distributor will have the info on record

depends on the age and history of the car to some degree whether it will be on record - with my Barracuda the DVLA have told me I need to get an MoT then pay £55 and get it inspected by them and all being well they will issue a reg...

this is a shot in the dark, but have you checked the reg isnt etched into the windows, was a common thing to do at one point
