Hello all, after seeing quite a few front engine Porsches turning up here I thought I would put a few details of mine up. I bought the car off here a couple of months back, I'm sure a few will remember the for sale add as it was up for a while.
Anyway it's a 944s 16v and it's in really nice order, despite it being the model most avoid due to complex timing gear this car has had all required parts replaced so should be happy for some years now, unfortunately it had failed an MOT on rust to sills in the usual 944 way. After getting it home I gave it a polish and left it in the garage for a bit
After a few weeks I with a little help from my bro in law got to sorting the rust issues out. One hole was welded but both sides were bubbling on the lower edge so they were cleaned up before re stone chipping and then painting over
The results are fantastic and my bro in laws body work skills are epic! He made it look easy!
Anyway with the rust issues sorted it went for its MOT and passed without an advisory.
The only issue left to resolve was those Boxster wheels. Now you either love them or hate them, I'm 50-50 to be honest and would probably have kept them on the car had it not been for the utterly horrendous effect they had on the car. The noise through the cabin of tyre roar was chronic! Every cats eye was like hitting a kerb stone head on! I've seen plenty of 944's wearing 17's so maybe it's my age but honestly you would have to be desperate for the look to live with the effect on the car ( I really do sound like my Dad)
Anyway after hunting ebay I found a nice set of the original Teledials fitted with the correct 215/60/15 tyres that my car should have worn. Now it rides much better and I can travel at 70 mph without having to shout at my passengers.
I personally love the way it looks on them, so there it is! On the road and so far so good, I think a gearbox oil change is next on my list to try and further hush the cabin noise
