Hi everyone! I'm relatively new here to the forums but i have been lurking around and following the epic builds on the forums. This is my first post and here's my 1983 Porsche 944. I was on my way to buy a Datsun 280zx and I came home with a 944. I was totally clueless about these cars and bought purely on impulse

I LOVE the square dash models! Much better than the oval dash in my opinion. I love the upsidedown rev counter. Looking forward to seeing what you're going to do with it.

I wasn't a fan of the square dash. Mainly because mine was beat up. I repaired the cracks and had it done over in "leather"

Some really original touches there, nice mate. thanks mate. Your 944 is my dream!!! Having a response from you is like a celebrity speaking to me Being in Cape Town, it's kinda hard to find original or any after market parts. So i made use of VW Golf Mk1 parts, such as the front lip and the projectile lights and i wanted to add some JDM styling into it with "sleepy eyes" look

Great looking car, I really like the lip spoiler, in fact it looks so good I'm surprised it's the first time I've seen one fitted like that.

I'm really surprised myself how well it went with the car. I literally did no changes to the lip, just attached it to the car. I bought a copy of the rear apron. I really hope it will be a perfect fit. More lip

The annoying thing about the lip is, I have a MK1 golf front lip, not a GTI one like that, its the smaller one, and I never thought to try it on the 944, even though I always wanted a front lip for it... I think there will be a few copy cats now..
The interior trim looks really good, not an easy thing to get right, some trimmers just are not up to the task.. and trimming the dash is the best way around the crack problems they give, but I have never seen anyone do it.
Its a nightmare finding decent 5x130 wheels, but I never thought you could get adapters to fit a 5x130 hub!

Its a nightmare finding decent 5x130 wheels, but I never thought you could get adapters to fit a 5x130 hub! I still need to shave a bit off the side of the lip for it to blend in perfectly. I would like to see you mock fit the smaller lip to your car, it would be very interesting indeed to see the different styles. The idea of the lip came to me when looking at 924's and the angle of the front bumper. Kept thinking in my Clarkson voice "Mmmmmm yessss, that would perfect on that", so I gave it a shot with my 944 and what do you know With the adapters, i knew that Porsche wheels wheels will cost more than my car, so i considered changing the hubs to VW Golf 3 VR6 ones, which are also 5x100 or even the VW Caravelle. But with changing to that, i would still need spacers to get the right look and i didn't know if it would work, so i just made the adapters. It's amazing what you come up with when you working on a budget and the parts aren't as readily available.

So I've been back at it with 944, finally got around to re-indexing the rear. And what a mission it is... Here's a few pic's of what has been happening lately. I've replaced the head gasket and fitted a new one and did a slight tuck to tidy up the engine bay. Replaced oil, sparks etc.

Or maybe some spacers on the rear and lower in front? Working on the TB is really time consuming.
