Thought I'd make a combined thread as I really can't be bothered updating 4! Credit goes to FOAD who's also an RR member for most of the photos, I'm fairly terrible at taking photos myself. So, here's my fleet. 1966 MK1 Cortina DeluxeThis is my pride and joy, I got this when I was 16 (in 2010), and gained a huge amount of mechanical knowledge and skill, as well as learning to weld, in the process of getting it roadworthy. It's lowered 2" with 1600e springs on the back, poly bushed track control arms + arb. Engine is standard for now, except for electronic ignition, but I've got a manifold to fit a twin choke weber with a standard exhaust manifold so that'll be going on sometime hopefully with a gt cam. 1984 Renault 18 GTD (Diesel)This is my daily, because it returns about 65mpg and no one knows what it is! I love driving down the motorway to work and seeing people looking at it with confused looks from the corner of my eye. It's also supremely comfortable, spacious and overall just a decent car, it's not that reliable though, and was extremely rusty when I bought it, but I've since sorted that. 1987 Volvo 340 1.7 GLThis is my most recently purchased car, I bought a 340 back in 2013 but it was knackered so I broke it. I also bought a 340 last year that was also totally knackered so I also broke it. This one however is a good un'. I'm in the process of making it suitable to take to a local drift track, as it's something I want to try out. I've fitted 2" lowering blocks, cut the front springs, welded the diff and will be painting it matt grey as the brown doesn't really work for me. I'll hopefully find some cool wheels for it too. 1993 Polo Coupe GTSo far, this is the newest car I've owned, but it's also the one I've driven most of all the cars I've owned. It was my daily for a year and a half before I got the 18, I bought it cheap but it needed a lot of work (no surprise for me). I had to replace half the drivers floor, the passengers wing and rear arch. I've also spent quite a bit repairing mechanical problems on this one. I still love it, it's great going for a blast on a warm day round some windy lanes. Sadly not rocking the wellers any more as the 18 has poached them. Oh yeah, no glossy paint jobs here!

Finished welding diff on the Volvo tonight, made a gasket for the gearbox-diff flange and also a gasket for the diff cover plate. Currently all I can smell is hypoid gear oil, it's not pleasant!

Painted Volvo and tinted headlights yellow Took the 18 to look at a Scorpio which FOAD is potentially interested in I'm currently sorting the exhaust on the polo, the one fitted was totally knackered from scraping over every bump for the past year, so much so that one of the clamps had grazed right through and fell off. There's a polo rear section with a cherrybomb welded to it in our unit, so I'll be fitting that for now but when I fit the bike carbs I'll be putting a standard backbox back on. I'm hoping to pick up a drivers strut top repair panel for the cortina as the current one is a bit shonky. I'd like to source a gearbox soon too.

Fitted some yamaha thundercat carbs to the Polo today. Fuel leaking from the fuel inlets on the carbs, I don't think it's a fuel supply issue (using t piece), I think the plastic fittings might be buggered.

Just when you're starting to think "this is actually alright" after sorting the starter motor and experiencing reliability for 11 days, the indicators stop working!

Finally the Cortina will have a bit of go, have just bought the following GT Camshaft + New followers MK1 GT Exhaust with Crossflow 4 branch (cyl 1 and 4 flanges will need modification) New release bearing Sump + rope seal gasket set Volvo 240 front dampers and top mounts Weber 28/36 DCD All I need is a gear shift remote to get rid of the magic wand remote and I'll pretty much be where I want with it. In other news I've also bought a set of ARB Blocks to correct the castor on the Polo, which should improve the handling quite a bit, and another set of carbs as the ones I have are shagged. I also did this on the Volvo

The polo needs a new distributor, not started it since fitting the carbs as hall sender seems to be knackered. I took this out today

Well, I've been busy lately. I fitted the cam to the Cortina's engine and fitted all new gaskets and rope seats - hopefully it doesn't leak too much oil now... Also got this, the manifold is for a crossflow fitted to a mk1. Altered this slightly by cutting the two end flanges off, elongating the holes, cutting the inner holes in half, bolting them to the head, as well as the manifold via the inner flange and tack welded the flanges back on. Then removed manifold from head and seam welded them back on. Got the block mated up to the bell housing again but needs a new engine mount, fortunately this is easy enough to change in situ. I also managed to get the bike carbs running on the polo and they sound great. This happened too. Finally, this is ready to drift after fitting the bucket seats, stripping out the rear interior and fitting the landy shocks.

Great work, love the Cortina and the Polo, ran MK2f's for a few years myself, eventually fancied something big though and bought an E38, may have another in the future.
I'm another who keeps threatening to get to a meet, they always seem to be short notice though.

Cheers man, I love the Polo, they aren't actually that great a car but for some reason I just want to keep driving it. We have a meet in Glasgow next Sunday, www.facebook.com/events/1455725578057844/ I should hopefully be there if I don't break the Volvo at Crail on the same day. Thanks man, I would never of imagined myself driving something like an 18 a couple of years ago but I love it.
