Hi guys. Stumbled across this rusty piece of YankTank for sale... The story (or lack of...) A woman bought it for her fella some time ago. He started stripping it to do the bodywork. They're no longer together, neither want the car. The End. History - ZERO Any form of legal documentation - ZERO Ever been driven in the UK - Don't know Ever been registered in the UK - Don't think so Year of the car - ??!!?!!?! She said it is complete but obviously in bits. Floors are totally shot, running gear is a mystery. My dad's the one who's interested but I speak modern English as opposed to his "Gaaaaargh I'm a caveman" English XD so I'm doing the talking with her. She wants back what she paid and that's £5000. I felt this was simply way too much. For a car that's practically half a car with literally no story or history or papers or even a registration plate I put a firm offer in of £2000. What does everyone else think it's worth? Please look at the pictures carefully, looks like it's been scuffed up in the past. Thanks, Pedro

WAY WAY WAY TO MUCH . I would be extremely wary of that unless you have a lot [ A LOT ] of money for welding , or are good/very skilled yourself . I'm betting thats got rusted out pillers from the picture , as well as the roof . You may even need a whole new doner car for it by the looks .
I wouldnt have a clue on price but would certainly weigh up how much money/skill you have , as well as price up some replacemnet panels and cost to get them here or from uk sales importers .

Exactly why I'm enquiring... My dad was even thinking of passing the work on to a bodywork/restoration specialist! (£££££££££££££££'s)

There's a Mustang/etc (Corvette's and such) importer on ebay, had a few Mach 1's, they might still be there and the prices weren't too bad irrc. That one would be cool to save but it'd also be a money pit unfortunately. Edit: Yup, here's his info/store, and here's the most recent Mach 1 he sold.

Thats a 71 BTW (if the grill is correct), will need a lot of work but on the positive side everything is available for them and they are very basic cars.
That shape has been regarded as the least desirable of the classic (64.5 - 73) Mustangs, i've always loved them though, same car was used in Diamonds are Forever and the original Gone in 60 Seconds movies.
Rebuilt a 70 Mach1 from a rolling shell 10 years ago, pretty much the same as that but with better bodywork, took me three years and cost about 8K at the time.

Nope, she's hell bent in getting her £5000 back...
I told her to try eBay but if all else fails the £2000 offer will still be here.
Thanks for the help folks. Scary thought how much money can be poured into these cars!!

don't touch it...it WONT sell when its completed ??I think he means that type of Mustang in that condition, out of those cars on E-bay the 60's cars are fetching big money, that 73 Cobra Jet has been for sale for a while. You could easily spend at least 10K restoring this car (on top of the 5K purchase price) If it had been a 70 Mustang or earlier then it may have been viable though if it's a 69 or 70 it really needs to be a sportsroof or convertable, coupe's in these years are not as desirable, 64 - 68 coupe's are more desireable than 69 - 70 coupe's Regarding Fox mustangs i had a black 1980 Cobra, bought for £1800, spent over 2K on it over two years, sold it as a far better car for £1800. There are Mustangs as investments and Mustangs that are absolute moneypits.
