My Next Retro project This is my Brothers Wolseley Hornet he has owned the car a few years, But now has the money to start. It is a 1966 mk3 hornet. Has beem converted to dry suspension, running mk1 cooper S brakes, Dunlop D1 wheels, 1380, twin SU's, straight cut gear box, ect. is a quick car. (when we got it) I am going to strip it to a bare shell, this month. Has already had a passanger floor and A panel. But i still need to weld in a new drivers rear floor and outer sill. I aim to get it painted by the end of the year. (how it currently sits) (this is how we hope it will end up) Will try to update this weekly got lots to do

Lovely. My Grandfather (RIP) had a Riley Elf when I was a child. I don't think I've seen a "mini" with that rear profile since.
Must be a seriously rare car now, I bet it's surprised a few GTi's with the 1380 engine. Love those period bucket seats!

Nearly finished stripping. Next weekend engine both sub-frames ect, Will be removed ready to start welding then off to paint. Bit more rust. Not found any thing that bad. Worst is the rotten drivers over sill and the back of floor. Has had a remote gear linkage fitted need to sort out the back mount to body. will get some more pics up next week once body is lifted off sub-frames.

Got the subframes out and the hornet sitting on its pallet. engine is still on the front subframe. next step is to strip the subframes and clean/paint them. get the metal work done ready for paint. also going to do a head-gasket and clutch on the 1380, repaint the block and start detailing the engine.

There is one of something very similar local to me. Not sure if its one of these or a Riley Elf? What were the differences? I'm not au fait with these cars.

Not sure if its one of these or a Riley Elf? What were the differences? Mainly the badges and Grille's, good old BMC Badge Engineering. Generally, the Wolseleys got a bit of extra bling in the trim dept over the Austin, Morris versions and the Riley got the extra trim bling and a bit of pep up dust over the engine. Cracking little car, looked good before the resto started, gonna look excellent after. A proper 'throwback' to 70's mods, love the powerlump

Thanks yeah has lots of cool bits on it Have not had space to get the shell to work yet to start welding and get ready for paint. so have made a start on the subframes. Rear Subframe some rust but nothing that bad. welded a couple of patches over the worst parts and seam sealed it. All painted started buying some bit, don't need to much as alot was like new. But have got some Gaz shocks, HiLo's, camber adjusters, wheel bearings, new cones, joints, ect.

Not much of an update as i had to move out my garage, so the shell is at a friends farm at the moment. Got a bit more done on the subframes but nothing to exciting yet. Front subframe still need painting but may get it shot blasted first. The 1380 is sitting ready for refresh. Rear arms and brakes are done, now all boxed up ready to be fitted one day front calipers rebuilt front suspension is next on my list of things to do. Hopping soon to get started on the body shell will have a better update soon.
