Hi all failed mot on loose springs . What have people used to fix there cut springs so they don't move... what are the best ie lasted the longest most mot friendly if there is such a thing lol. What are the worst methods

Many people drill a small hole in the cup to put a cable tie through and keep them located. How loose are they when the car is in the air?
Worst method is probably trying to stick them in with half-sucked Werther's Originals.

IIRC the reason for failure isn't them being loose, it's the fact that they may not relocate properly when the suspension compresses (hence land rovers can pass with dislocation cones fitted) - might be worth looking at some sort of insert to ensure they always go back into position?

Section 2.4:
Shortened coil springs, to lower the ride height, are acceptable provided the spring ends locate correctly when the vehicle is returned to the normal running position without assistance.

I suppose worst case scenario is you have to have a set of full-length "MOT springs" but that would be a bit of a pain to swap them every 12 months!
If they're just a bit loose and rattle about when in the air I'd defo look at cable-tieing them in. If they come right out of the cups and fall out then that method perhaps won't be ideal.
I used wire to secure the rear springs on my Merc as they were loose when jacked up. Just twisted around the bottom coil and secured to the spring cup.

They don't come out tho they only come out if you pull them out I'd say something like cable ties, wire or jubilee clips would be ideal then, to secure them to the cups. I'd just make it look as neat as possible as it looks from your other thread like your MOT tester isn't very forgiving!

It's rather ambiguous. What did the tester actually explain to you regarding reason for failure? Spoke to him this morning he said when jacked up the springs fall out they don't but ok said if I secure them in place would that be ok he said no gotta be lowered shocks or factory springs
