Bit of advice required here. I've just sold my private plate which I've owned for ten years, as I keep on retaining it and not using it.
I recently paid £25 ish iirc to retain it for a further 12 months and I also paid an £80 ish 'assignment fee' so it could go straight onto a vehicle with no further fees paid as such.
I worded my auction that fees had been paid and that the registration was ready to go for the new owner.
I'm now in the process of writing the new owners name in the 'nominee details' section of the retention document, following advice I'd seen elsewhere on tinternet. I understand that basically I need to write the new owners name, sign it, then post it to them to do what they want with it.
Problem is, I've just spotted that I am supposed to enclose a fee of £25 payable to DVLA for when the nominee details are changed.
The actual wording is:
"I, the Grantee, apply to add or change the Nominee details on this retention document. I enclose the fee of £25."
I've had enough of paying my hard earning dollar to DVLA and genuinely thought that paying to retain the curse word, and paying the assignment fee had covered all costs.
I'm also aware I listed the plate as 'ready to transfer straight onto the new owners vehicle'.
Thoughts? I don't want to stitch up the new owner, nor do I want to dig into my pocket yet again...
