Carlton estate is one of the best tow cars around. Towing an Astra race car on a 4-wheel trailer on a clear dry road, the car is perfectly fuss-free at 100 mph, so I understand. But please don't try this at home.

Always fancied an estate done like a lotus, burgundy one is very cool looking just how I imagined it would.
Lotus kits are getting hard to find now though

I think Lotus (non genuine) bits might be easier to get than a good Carlton estate. Occasionally a nasty modified back in the day and rotten Carlton saloon will pop up that could be a good kit donor.

Some pretty cool cars here. But i am wondering where are all the people who have owned Carlton estates gone? I'm guessing that i'm in a minority group, perhaps most Carlton owners have gone for the saloon rather than the far handier estate! Having said that i'm sure i've seen Carlton Estates posted in the past on RR, c'mon people, where are you lol? Anyhoo, here's a few of my photos of Carlton Estates... Ok, i'll admit it, it's actually it's an Opel Rekord, but it's pretty much the same thing! I've been going through some old photos lately, and heres the best one of the Carlton estate i'm looking for... PLD 813W. Yep, i know it's pretty plain jane, but i sure would like to get my grubby little hands on it again. I know it's ridiculous, and i know it's probably been turned into baked bean tins several times over, but you never know, it may still be lurking in someones garage!

I've recently sold my Carlton Diamond estate, the 24V manual version that shocked and frightened Fiesta ST drivers all over South Wales. Awesome cars, absolutely loved that one. Still got a Diamond 2.0 auto which I'll hopefully be dragging out for an MOT soon.
My mate/boss has a C reg 2.2 mk2 estate that his other half drives every day, it'll be doing a tour of Ireland in the next couple of weeks too.
Of course, this is useless without pics... Which I don't have at the moment as I'm in work, but I promise to put some up later!

I like that, I never really cared for the front of the earlier Carltons at the time, and infact the one i'm looking for is the same as yours Mantasport, and i remember thinking that the biogger headlight front was better, but now looking at yours i'm not so sure it is. Have you got any more photos of the old thing? Here's one on a trailer.

Sorry it's not an estate but my saloon is for sale now as an engineless project! More pics in the for sale ads on here! Steve Absolutely LOVE that E2 van BTW It would make me a terrific works vehicle, but would I be able to resist a big transplant?

garthalgar, i'm loving that faux wood on the side of your Carlton, it kind of puts me in mind of the early nineties Chevrolet Caprice wagon!

garthalgar, i'm loving that faux wood on the side of your Carlton, it kind of puts me in mind of the early nineties Chevrolet Caprice wagon! Ta muchly, that's exactly the look we were going for! Poundlands own wood wrap. Cost £5 for 12.5m to do the car. Looks good from far away but has loads of wrinkles (the wrap is rubbish!). I'm just calling it a textured wood effect.

Haha yes! That carlton looks absolutely bad ass. Would take the big fat woodies treatment in its pride!
Seriously though that's an ace looking car. I've developed a strange love for Carltons after driving ours across Europe...
