Hi, Define classic cars. I know we all know what constitutes a classic car, but how do you define it legally? For this reason I think this petition is doomed, Not that the government take any notice anyway.

I remember seeing the pictures circulated from a few years back (28Dayslater).
Do you have any recent shots? it would be nice to see them and I'm sure it would drum up some more support as these e-petitions usually fall flat.

If there are 'classics' sitting around they really do need to be saved as they aren't serving a purpose at all in that state...
I still find it hard to believe the scrappage scheme claimed the lives of so many glorious old cars but it seems that it did and if we can claim a few back that would be superb...
However, what with the governments drive to reduce emissions and all that jazz I'd be surprised if they even consider putting more old cars back on the road due to 'all the muck they spew out'...
It's a huge shame that these old cars are sitting around awaiting their fat but I think that's how it'll stay...!!!
Let's hope otherwise...

Even if these cars cannot see the road again the appropriate clubs of forums should be made aware of them so as to be able to use them as donors at the very least...

mojoman81, I think there must be a problem with your keyboard, because what's been published is this: If you can do any better feel free to do so ass hole.! And I'm sure what you actually meant to come out was something like this: Hey, maybe this guy's got a point. Perhaps the detail of a petition should be the culmination of a bit of research - if I spent some time on this, and put some facts, figures, sources, that sort of thing it wouldn't seem so wooly. In fact I could even ask these nice guys on RR how I should do that research so that my petition is really good and loads of people sign it! In which case I'm sure we could agree that a good place to start is defining WHAT is a classic car here, because although we all know the mantra, government agencies don't work on 'whatevers cool in your eyes'. Do we cut it off at 1990? But that might mean some a mildly disinteresting F-reg Fiesta 1.1 is set free and a J-reg Cossie / 205GTi / Supra or whatever stays in the pile marked 'crush'. Where are these cars stored? And how many? (note, old google maps views don't really count!) We'd need to know WHO the players are here - what Government department is responsible for the legacy of the scrappage scheme? What NGO's does this filter into? Who is then contracted to store these cars? Then what is the cost? Is it costing £££ to keep these cars stored ad infinitum? Use of some FOI requests should turn up these results. Once you've gatherered up all this useful info, it can be put into the detail of the petition, so that those who would like learn more before they sign can do so. Numbers, facts, links, document refences... all good. You could make this super-good if you wanted to. HTH.

Signing an e-Petition is a diversionary tactic. Apathetic people click a button and think they've done all they possibly can to help a cause.
You ask what Pog has done to help? He probably defecated in the last 24 hours. That's as much help as everyone else has been.
