Hi all, thought id stick this up here, i know there are a few of them about already and i love my old french stuff, some of you might remember my old car retrorides.proboards.com/thread/155220/1985-renault-lecar-turbo-jenveys?page=7&scrollTo=1990193 the mk1 turbo. its been about 6-7 months since i got rid of her and whilst browsing ebay found a very clean looking campus. I ended up buying it just so i could tinker and build a turbo sleeper ready for this years gathering. So after talking with the owner and agreeing to buy the car blind i tried using shiply, new to me, but people bid on your custom, 2 days later it was here a quick wash down, nothing spectacular just to see what i had 1.1 engine in all its glory and 4 speed gearbox

So next up are some lows, and a fair amount of them. Also on its way to me is basically the complete engine bay from a gt turbo. This will be replacing the 1.1 4 speed. Should add a little stealth poke to the car. Just looking to have a clean yet used 5 that i can have some fun in, stock turbo will limit me to around 150-160bhp, so i might slap a cam in and bigger turbo at some point but just looking forward to getting it swapped then out on the road

Don't do the lows and wheels...keep it bog stock standard, original badges etc; with the turbo lump...a proper sleeper then (IMHO)

Looking good! It's the plastic trim which makes the car look tired if they are worn even if the paintjob is great, so good to see it freshend up.
Looks like a basic 1.4? Going for the 1.4 GT turbo intake manifold and turbo etc.? Banding the original steels could be nice and different.
Keep up the good work!

its a super basic 1.1 4 speed, so doing a full engine and gearbox swap out of a gt turbo. Might change the clocks and the steering wheel on the inside, most wont notice and it will let me keep an eye on things a little better as the dash i have doesnt even have a temp gauge. Good shout on banding the wheels, not massively though just a little to get some wider tread on

That looks a tidy one. I had an E reg 1.1TL and later bought a 94 Campus. I always wanted to mod the first one I had. My plan was to fit a Gordini cross flow head and Webers along with GTT suspension and steel wheels. The Campus was bought to get it out of my system (although I would still like another) and I modded this a bit. I left the engine as it was a 1.4 anyway and fitted a van rear beam with drums along with phase 2 GTT front struts standard springs and altered the strut mounting hiles to allow them to fit. This mean the front was pretty low but had good suspension travel still, plus a bit more negative camber. I still had a set of GTT steels and fitted those. It wasn't fast but was lots of fun round corners providing the road was half decent.

Awesome stuff saw yours after a search, my first car was a campus so fitting ive got another now. After having plenty of gt turbos and couple of Gordinis I hope to get it' all in quite quickly, gtt suspension is also on the list might even have some coilovers kicking about somewhere. If I can get it to handle half about it'll make it more fun. Van rear shocks are a common one to fit on, I'll have to Check out the spec for the van rear beam and see if it's any thicker

I fitted the stiffest van beam on mine and it was really a bit too much. It was the same style as a GTT one with 4 separate bars but still had drums. As I was keeping the brake standard I just swapped the ones from the car onto it. I will have a look to see if I can find any pictures. I think there was one where I had just fitted the beam but left it set standard van height and it looked like a dragster. Might be best to get a GTT beam as all the brakes will match up assuming you are fitting the whole front end from one anyway.

indeed, have seen it, as cool as it is if i got it back id only sell it on. I kinda get an idea in my head, work through as a little project, then sell on and build something else. Though it probably didnt look it, that one was quite a technical challenge. This one should be an easy quick to do play thing that wont soak up to much of my funds. I have a little one due in 3 weeks so my money has been secured by the other half for other things, this campus is my escape lol
