With Japfest only a week away I've given up on completing the stereo build ready for it so I'm focusing my attention to the elements that are visible from the outside of the bus and I'll leave it closed during the day to hide the half finished status of the build.
The most visible elements of the audio build are the A pillars and rather than refit them in standard form I decided to try and get the tweeter builds complete this week.
First up, plan A - fitting 360 degree adjustable mounts to the A pillars with the main bar poking through the trim panel...
Fitted...
Hole drilled in trim panel, just need to space out the mount so that the adjustable section can be fitted to it...
Spaced out with sound deadening pieces to test...
I tried to refit trim panel at which point I discovered that the panel now no longer fits over the mount so onto plan B and fixing the mount to the a pillar trim panel instead, its a solid enough fitting but not quite as tidy, swapping the bolts to black will help especially when the panel and pod are trimmed in black.
I needed to cut recesses for speaker connectors in the front layer of each tweeter pod...
And fit a camera tripod adaptor into the back panel so the pod can be fitted to the mount...
Test...
Glued together and clamped for the night (they're both done but only took a photo of one)...
The glue and vinyl are with the courier so can retrim them once they arrive, the MDF will be primered first to make it less absorbent and more weather proof.
I'm hoping to get the doors sound deadened tomorrow and upper door cards back on to make the doors a bit more presentable for Japfest even if I run out of time to get the speaker builds complete.
