It's been all about the bulbs this week...
First up fitting a rear fog light -
I decided to install mine into the driver side reverse light and I cut the reverse light cables going to the standard bulb holder and connected the cables (which had already been routed from a switch on the dashboard to an external aftermarket lamp on the rear bumper by the importer) to the bulb holder instead.
This is the lamp I bought off ebay - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161645085722 - I went for this one because it actually stated a Watt rating on the advert rather than "very bright" etc.
New lamp in holder -
Holder within cluster (difficult to tell the brightness as it was bright sunshine for a change when I swapped it over) -
And at night (again tricky to tell brightness and the fact the lights are even red in this photo?! but it's brighter than the tail lamps) -
Parking lights -
These wing mounted lamps were already fitted on the Elgrand in Japan but the imported disconnected them, I'd assumed that they were aftermarket but when I was in the engine bay looking into front indicator bulb types I traced the connectors and they look like OEM Nissan connectors into the wiring loom (unless the installer used proper plugs to fit them?!)
Any way I plugged them back in and was greeted by this -
and by night -
Can't for the life of me work out how to remove the lens (if possible) to swap them out for white or mint LEDs though?!
Silver look front indicator bulbs -
To avoid the orange glow look of an orange bulb within a reflective lens I always replace my indicator bulbs with ones that appear silver when not illuminated to give a cleaner look.
Love the lights. I used red light spray on a cortina. Got all sorts of earache off of officer dibble because my indicators flashed red though lol. Does the film change the orange light? If it doesn't I'm having some for my daily

I saw an Estima fresh off the boat the other day. It was pretty tricked out but the stale cigarettes and little curtains reminded us of staying in Cube hotels hahah. Was funny going through the leftover J-Pop from the PO in the internal hdd for the headunit.
No, but a friend of mine does a lot of aftermarket installations for car dealers who are. There happened to be one down at the shed being worked on, so we put it through it's reversing system paces. It was pretty accurate.
