thought i should get my beasty up i'd like to introduce my latest project (well when i say latest, i've had it a year but my girls car broke so she used it for a while, we'll get to that bit shortly) last july i had pretty much finished playing with my 1.6inj 86C Polo (pictured below) and wanted a new project, a quick flick through the classifelds turned up a 84,000 miles, one owner Golf but it was 7 hours away, we agreed to buy the car unseen and paid a deposit, we shot emails back and forth to go get the car but some reason it all went abit pear shaped when one of the owners family died and for a month we heard nothing and presumed we'd been stitched up, then we got a email saying sorry about that and come get it, without further hesitation we drove to Carcassonne in southern france and picked up our new ride, although not mint it was totally stock and rustfree having been in sunny france since 2003. it seems it did not have many options ticked when it was new as it has no central locking, no power windows.. bu it does have PAS. have afew pictures of the day we picked the car up.. first things were the 16v lights... crosshairs/yellow bulbs i ran it for afew months like this taking it to the Alsace and to the UK the car behaved brilliant then 'she who must be obeyed' borrowed it and it was returned to near standard for a while car lost drive so fixed up her passat to get her back on the road and set about sorting my baby out oh my... well i best get started with a major clean.. guess i'll have to sort this sometime soon too lol hay, hay, hay oh my... fuel leak here we go... now thats abit better heated 16v seats (have switch but not the loom grrr) removed gti sticker trim, cut and polished, new GTI badge, hella rear spoiler, lay flat wiper etc sitting pretty some fresh smoked indicators, crosshairs and yellow bulbs returned Scale 1/56, 1/43, 1/25 and 1/1 GTI's which leads me here, just where i left it at the bodyshop.... to be continued

quite agricultural use of a golf mk2, I hope the "she who must be obeyed" is someone you love dearly, if my other half or mother left my car in that state they'd be out the door

mine out and about at the local classic car event today where i scored these as i needed clips for my trims (12 of them) found them on ebay at €6 each plus the postage on top, got these for 20 notes, sorted i like the standard exhaust but the tips were were quiet rusty, 20 minutes later with some chrome cleaner polished them up full set of trims without cable ties yay lol

so last night i broke the car down, assessed tha damaged which isnt as bad as it looks, today i apologised, gave it a rub, and set about repairing it... so after replacing the front wings, bonnet, grille, slam panel, lower grill, front valance, radiator, header tank, windscreen washer bottle and a lower wishbone, i'm left with just a door to replace.. although i'm now hurting alot lol end of last night Inner wing damaged, no damage to chassis legs at all, panels straightened up quiet well new slam panel shows me where i need to start tappaty tap tap and thing are lining up.. ekk bent lower wishbone a pig to remove lining up lovely old and bent versus just old lol engine now all back as it was, just need a new battery (old one was pancaked) getting there looking good now back on 4 wheels again long way to go before it'll be as it was but least its still on the road lol

I'm amazed it rolled twice and no windows smashed! At least you're ok and it's repairable! Incredible really!
I remember clipping a very nasty granite curb in my micra once which bent the wishbone like that and destroyed the front wheel, It also bend the rear axle although you couldn't see it with the naked eye, the ruined tyres flagged that up 2 months later... so my advice is get the tracking checked before hitting the roads again as you never know what else might be ever so slightly out of alignment.

She's a strong old girl that one, you'd never believe that you'd gone over twice. Good to see your putting her right and be back out enjoying the back roads again soon
