Hi Folks I'm considering buying a few car body parts i need from a guy in Leeds, I'm in Glasgow, I don't want to travel that far to collect parts and the guy cant come half way. So who is the cheapest courier to transport these 3 items, a drivers door, drivers front wing and a saloon boot lid? Price is more important than a fast delivery. edit - anyone tried www.carpartcouriers.co.uk/, they seem like nice prices

I use them quite often. They`re pretty good, and certainly the cheapest out there. They generally use TNT to do the deliveries. However, it would probably be cheaper to use a pallet company; get all three items on one pallet and less risk of damage. Try both www.speedshift.co.uk and www.pallet2ship.co.uk.

Word of warning.... Don't use uk mail, guaranteed to arrive damaged, nightfreight seem to be good with bigger items

I've given up buying panels unless I can collect myself locally.
Every time time I've bought panels and had them shipped in the past they have arrived damaged. That was with different companies every time too.

You get what you pay for, I tried to get some work via Shiply, but just can not do the jobs for the lowest bidder for the job, then the customer wonders why the goods are damaged, it's because they are chucked in the back of a van with all the other items that are only making £5 a unit ! I only did/do "Same day Courier by Car" and looked after the goods like they were mine, but if you want someone to do half a days work for you, you should pay them half a days wage !

I work in the industry and I wouldn't use any overnight courier to move a large panel. The chance of damage is very high.

Thanks for all the replies guys, it turns out the chap does not have access to a pallet. He said he car fit everything into a big box but says it likely wont be full covered as one parcel, so best using carpartcouriers as they are cheaper and then each item should be insured. If so many bad experiences one wonders what the hell they do with these large heavy items.

You need an independent owner driver courier who will collect the items and deliver them himself. as already said with the over night big brands one driver who is on a burry will chuck it in his van, it then gets chucked around a warehouse by low paid workers who don't look or care what the package is before being lobbed into another van. give covcourier a try.
