Recently bought some bucket seats for my Volvo 340, with the intention of bolting them to the original runners and bolting the original runners to their original mount points.
Discovered this would sit way too high, so I drilled the spot welds off the floor mounts and did away with them (they're about 6 inches tall).
I was then planning to weld some box section to the floor and then bolt the runners to them, but I'm thinking a better solution is to weld box section across the floor from the inner sill to the tunnel and then bolt my seats directly to them.
Questions are
1 - Can I just weld the box section straight to the tunnel/inner sill or would I need to first weld spreader plates to both of them.
2 - Will 2mm box section be adequate or will I need chunkier?
