Not personally, but my daughter makes stuff out of resin using a similar process. If you do it carefully, you can get an exact replica of the original part.
There are some sites where people use the same process to make extra bits to customise Play Mobil figures - pretty cool stuff. When it describes forming a box to create the mould, using a Lego board and bricks to form the the 4 walls of the box is a good way of making a box just the right size so you don't waste materials.

I`d take a mould and make a glass one as Colin says above, you can still use the silicone mould if you only want a few ?

Either way you're making a mould and a copy, it's which ever is easiest for you.

I bought some stuff called Siligum, which is a two-part product similar to plasticine. You mix it together, press it around the good part, and leave it for five minutes. It sets into a reasonably flexible mould, which is quite useful for extracting the finished part. It was pretty good - I made a mould from a small plastic mirror insulator at a car show in just a few minutes. I then used fibreglass resin to make a few copies, but that's a bit too fragile so I bought a two-part liquid plastic product from a company called Alchemie which is much better.
I noticed Siligum is available in Hobbycraft now, I had to send off for mine as it was a few years back.
