Brilliant thread. Have loved it so far, video especially. I look forward to when I have somewhere big enough to justify an old tractor. Will be something similar to this, age wise anyway. Possibly an old Ford. Anyways, nice. Keep it up

thanks! I do like the (cables) ford 3000, but they command good money. I only really picked this because it was a friends family member who had it sat, and i wanted to save it. I thought i paid too much to start with, it was only after I'd bought it and looked on eBay and realised i'd got a really bargain, I was looking at a Zetor before this. I'm glad I ended up with the 590.
If you buy a tractor first you'll have to buy some land then haha, good luck

This brings back many childhood memories. My Dad had a 4wd 590 and I can still remember going to the dealers to buy it. I wish he had kept it when he retired but he decided to hang on to the 398 instead, which I suppose is technically a better tractor, but not as cool!
The bit that immediately sprang to mind from your photos was the fear of losing fingers from that massive door when it swings shut. My preferred position was sat on the left wheelarch you see. That and the multi power switch which always made me bang my head when activated!

Wyer1972 was getting concerned he'd not spent any of my money for a while. So when he found a loader that would fit the 590 he negotiated a very good deal on the loader. I popped over to the farm, and to my relief it wasn't a loader sh!t, it was solid with a power loader. A large bucket and a hey take/scoop. So Sunday morning we went to collect it The deal was, we removed it. But the farmer was super laid back and left up his jcb telehandler to take it off Never drove one, but have driven tractors, fork lifts and mini diggers, it was like a mix of the 3 I like!!! ..... and want but I need to keep calm Took my little helper with me Got it all loaded up. Had to go up a farm track (with the trailer empty) that for about 20ft was pure mud. It took 3 or 4 attempts with my "Nexen ditch finders" (tyres) giving little grip it was firing mud everywhere

Picked up a transport box (fits on the 3 point linkage on the back of the tractor, carrying tool, logs etc) from another farm that was local to where I collected the loader from The metal in the floor of the box will need replacing but it was at the right money Things were a little more basic back at the ranch. But surprisingly effective for a solo off load Then pulled forward until they was near the rear Fuelled up and the way home and tret myself to this Lit a fire and had a beer after a very long but productive day, just need to fit it to mine now

There is a piece of box section theat bolts to the underneath of the sump. When i undid the first bolt to remove it from the tractor (not mine the one I removed the loader from) it curse word water out, there Must have been gallon. This did the bolts holding it on (sat in the water) no favours 5/8 unc thread 5 1/2 inch long, was going img to be a challenge to find some. None on eBay, found Some on the internet. But they wanted £56 for 4 The hunt continues These are the 3/4 unc bolts that hold the loader frame to the side of the tractor Spot the odd one out This is where I found the sizes After a few phone call, and nipped into a few shops I found this place. Only a few miles away. And at the right money

This bit was welded on rather then bolted Ground it off Re tapped it Rubbed them all down ready for paint. Drilled some 13mm holes in the box section beneath to let the water run out What better way to spend a Saturday evening £1.99 disco bulb

Thanks. I did a basic agricultural mechanic course when I was 17. It was how to service diesel machines and changed a clutch on a little vintage tractor. But basically it was a scaffold bar on the end of a spanner and a lump hammer. I passéd my driving test and bought an Austin metro. I snapped every nut and bolt under the bonnet hahaha. I had become accustom to the do it tight, then another quarter turn, Under the tractor where the bottom piece of the loader fits, there is an inspection chamber (I wasn't aware off) covered by a plate. With only 2 holes, I needed it to have 4 holes of about 16mm but the largest metal bit I had was a 13mm... on a Sunday too F is for .......... file With some gasket paste I had in the garage I fitted it up After spending Saturday evening painting it, I spent Sunday morning wire brushing it back off. The tractor I removed it from was smaller and the loader frame needed adjusting This wasn't easy lol Oh how I've missed working on big stuff. Burnt my hands a few times. I'm a simple man. I undid the bolts I could (enough to fit the frame) but need to get a 39mm socket to finish it It fouled on the step so it came off for the 3rd time Better One side on You will fit ! Called it a day at that Nearly ran over my mrs trabant. The loader legs wickedly restrict the vision of the front wheels

If you are going to use the loader in anger fit a nudge bar over the grill and radiator, people have an annoying habit of running as far into the heap as they can or when dumping running into the side of the pen/ trailer to drop it a bit further on.

I'm a turbo will happen but not till I've sorted the cab The levees had no knobs on the end so I bought some 8 ball key rings and drilled them out and glued them on Big nuts need big spanners And when there not big enough, add a bar and heat Nearly pulled my vice off my bench. Need a metal bench With a engine crane and some "you bet" style driving Got it in place, was gonna tret me Sen to a compressor but my children wanted christmas prezzie, I had to use a little 12v one. Didn't realise how big the tractor is

Replaced the bodged bits with proper bits Made a bracket for the spool valve to fix too Fitted the levers They reminded me of something That's it With some left over ply and all my half full tubes of silicon I put a new floor in the transport box I have painted it with some left over black paint, but it was dark by this time. Then Yes!
