Ayrton Senna has it realy been 21 years

Today marks the 21st anniversary of Senna's tragic death at San Marino only a day after Roland Ratzenburger also lost his life in a hi speed crash.


One of F1's true legends. At least his legacy is that not a single life has been lost during a F1 race or qualifying since.

I was 14 when it happened and remember as if it were yesterday. Such a great loss to the sport, and of course to Brazil where he did so much.

He was not just a fantastic driver he was a really nice bloke. I met him to chat with a few times and found him more than happy to talk.

The last true great of F1 before all the BS and politics took away the whole raison d'etre of the sport.

I was 7 years old at the time of his death.

He was my childhood hero, when I first started go karting I did it because I wanted to be like Senna.

My dad had met him a few times and he always wore his signed Senna hat when ever I was racing . He was a hero to both of us and I'll always remember Imola 94 as the first time I ever saw my dad cry.

From then on I always raced with a Senna t-shirt under my race suit.

This year as a little personal tribute I have put these on my car

RIP Ayrton. I was watching that very race as an 18 year old. It was a sad day.

Big fan here. I made this video about his appearance on the European racing scene, at the Mercedes Cosworth 190 'race of champions' at the Nürburgrung to remember him. I prefer to remember him this way, young, enthusiastic, a bit crazy, as opposed to dwell on an ugly accident that ended his life. I hope you enjoy the vid as much as I did making it. RIP Ayrton;

Time flies, I was 16 at the time and remember it well. If anyone hasn't seen it, the film Senna really hits home what a genius this guy was behind the wheel.
