I've not been on a board since I was around 15, ill be 36 this year so thats a sizeable break and probably not the biggest break ill get. Over the last couple of years I've had a hankering for a board again (early midlife crisis?). Whilst thinking about buying a board I went on ebay looking at long boards for sale and saw a low end board sitting at 0 bids with a start of £1 so thought ill put £1.50 on it for a laugh. I only won the auction at £1 plus delivery (much to the dismay of swmbo) so I now have a 45 inch long board on its way and even though its not going to be the best quality one I'm fairly excited to get stuck in stripping it for a natural wood finish and maybe even do a drop through cut out on the board, why not it was only £1

I did the same when I was about your age! I'm ten years on now, still occasionally riding my long board, and I've even upped the ante and bought a set of rollerblades, and a set of quads for Mrs Pistonpopper! If I were you I'd get Mrs Koma involved if you can, it'll be much more fun. You're on young once fella, stay young as long as you can... have fun!!

After I started snowboarding, I bought a longboard in the hopes I could practice the movements, as well as a shortboard, just coz... I'm a bit of a scaredy cat though, because once it goes to fast, I jump off. I'd prefer not to kill myself because I can't brake down hills.

Hi guys , can you tell me what sort of board this is ? approx 41 inches long I bought it a few years ago as a piece of VW art to hang on my garage wall and I now have another piece to replace it.

I love that board. So the board was delivered on Thursday and i was itching to get on it but i had an unfortunate run in with the police on my way to work and as a result i had to find 4 new wheels and tyres before driving the car again. so that obviously took priority. Friday nights in my house are somewhat of a routine, Pizza for tea, run the boy a bath, play for a bit give him a warm milk and up to bed then sing a few songs and leave his room without making a single noise. After that its my time to do what every i want for a couple of hours atleast. so I began stripping the awful artwork from the Long board when i bought it i figured itd be a vinyl sticker, no such luck its screen printed onto the board. So i broke out the sand paper and a sanding block. by the time i was too tired to continue it looked like this. And tonight i pulled my finger out and got the rest stripped then varnished a couple of times to get to this point I had a specific look in mind when i bought it so i had a go. Ive never really done anything like this before and there are imperfections and things id change but like i said in post one , it only cost £1 so i can live with this.
