This might seem like a basic question but, my car doesn't have a lot of wiring behind the dashboard to take power from. I've just wired in a cigarette lighter to the igniton live for the stereo... did this by splitting the feed with a block, one way up to the stereo and one down to the cig lighter with a fuse. I really want to ad an Edge ED7300 amp that i've seen and don't know if i should use this again or can use this feed again for that... would i best be going straight from the battery with a fuse...? thats what i did when i added some air horns. The wire for the stereo isn't that thick. i'm a novice at all this and i don't want to burn down my car!! Thanks for reading Chris

I would suggest running a relay, switched by the ignition controlling a fused supply to a distrbution point, then any future accessories can be spliced in with no worries of burning wires or frying your ignition switch. Ttfn Glenn

An Amplifier will need to take its power from a thick fused cable straight from battery, nothing else is safe

Hi guys thanks for the info. I've got my Amp! an Edge ED300 that should power my speakers just fine. I'll be running a power cable from the battery to the Amp (fused) but, I've noticed theres the REM or Remote, that needs to be hooked up to the ignition i'm told... i'm running an old head unit so nothing in the way of a remote coming from that. As i said before i'm concerned about running more things from the 12v stereo ignition cable. what have you guys done in the past? Should go quite nicely under the glove box if i can get it to fit... Thanks Chris

The remote feed can just be wired from a spare ignition only live feed from the fuse box...that way it will switch on only when the ignition is on or when the engine is running

I ended up getting someone to wrie this in for me. He did a great Job but i sods law the Cassette deck i got him to wire in jammed a tape into it and this time it wont come out (i know i could get it out but it sounds bad and i really arnt friends with it anymore)... so i've fitted a CD player as I'm board of the bad sound. Theres only one ignition wire as i mentioned before and my guy who wired it in seems to have wired the cig and Remote to this feed to (remote seems to go off to a relay) my concern is I had to wire the ISO Yellow (live) Red (battery) Blue (remote) and the remote wire that comes over from the Amp to the same connector. See pic below... Is this ok? Obviusly i put tape around that so it wont touch anything.

Am I looking at your picture wrong or do you have power going into the Blue remote wire? The remote wire is a switch live when the unit is powered up to control an electric aerial or amp, it gives power so it shouldn't have power going up it

The blue wire will be live when you switch the head unit on because it is the trigger feed (Remote) for the Amp. It tells your amp to power up so needs to connect with that BUT if he wired the amp on the cassette tape without a remote feed then you can just leave it disconnected (Taped up) but deffo not to a power feed.
