Somewhere I've got a list of cars I've been compiling since I was about 14, of cars I've only ever seen in brochures or magazines but never actually seen in real life. Many are supercars (Cizeta V16T, Isdera Imperator, things like that), others are Eastern Bloc (the Melkus RS1000 was on there until I saw one in 2010), but most are random variants of relatively humdrum Japanese 70s and 80s stuff. Like this: Blue Datsun Stanza 3-Door by Retro-Motoring and WoertherseePics.com, on Flickr Scanned from a Nissan brochure I got at the time when they were new. I've never seen a three door in real life, a five door was rare enough at the time let alone now! Anyone got one, had one, seen one themselves, or even better - got a photo?

I've not seen one either. Seeing as there's only 17 Stanzas left on the road, it's not surprising these days, but I don't remember seeing any in my youth either.

I've got a 4 door saloon one but the 3 door is thought to be extinct, that blue one ^ was thought to be the last, sadly no longer on the road. It has to be the most unloved datsun made. Good cars but as usual rot killed them off.

I used to sell cars. And for a while worked at a Datsun/Nissan dealership at the time of the re-branding, I remember they had a 3 door Stanza in stock, it was bolted to the forecourt, no one was interested in it, I think I was 6 months before another dealership enquired about it and it got transferred on very favourable terms, ie we probably took a loss to shift it

Ahh 3 door stanza! My dad had a red one for 7 years, great cars, the body work just rotted away but the engine was fantastic. Dad always said was the best car he had. Truly underrated car as I didn't see one again after his was scrapped!

My dad had a brand new C-Reg Stanza in 1986. White, 5 door with a red velour interior.
He then bought a fleet of them for his company and the base models he bought were all 3 doors.
They were replaced 2 years later with a fleet of Bluebird saloons. I still have all the sales brochures for the Stanza, Bluebird and all the other cars in the Nissan range at the time.
He was originally looking at a MK2 Cavalier Hatch, but then he was advised to look at the Stanza as it was a similar shape and size of car, which he may get a better deal on at a large, local Nissan dealer.

I had white 3door Stanza tastefully decorated with a thousand sports stickers. Kept it for a week. That was plenty

My second car was a 4 door T11 Stanza saloon in the same light blue colour as the 3 door in the OP. VCU 803Y iirc.
My fourth car, after a truly regrettable 3 month dalliance with a Mk3 Escort, was also a Stanza, this time a maroon 5 door hatch. A plate, but can't remember the rest.
I have such fond memories of my blue saloon especially. Under-rated cars for sure.

It has a very similar shape to a Corolla liftback my Dad owned in that era. There's an '82 4-door Stanza on ebay at the moment; £950 StanzaAnd an '83 5-door minter on Car & Classic; £2,650 Stanza
