So, here is my latest purchase. Its a 1976 MK3, one of the last. It started life as a 998cc, but has had a 1275 Metro lump put in. It was Zierbart'ed from new, so has done rather well at surviving, although there are a few patches of serious rust, that shall be addressed! No idea on the colour, its faded quite bad!, but I'm a fan of it patina so shan't be resprayed anytime soon. Plans for this are retro 70's/80's style mods and to keep it simple, and to use it as my daily. Here it is, the day when it arrived; After a few mods and started rust tackling;

Cheers for the feedback guys Thanks alot for the colour match, it does look very similar to Cinnebar! Whats wrong with the numberplate move and the bits on the back? The anti static rear strip and plate on teh grille were common things back in the 70's/80's? The sticker is coming off though. But neither of the Mini's has any tat on it. baggabones; Nice! You had good choice sir @clement; Older ones like this are just getting more and more expensive over here, infact all minis seem to be going up in price :/

I think the point is it looks good already , i.e just because you can change it does not mean you have to . Sometimes less is more .

Whats wrong with the numberplate move and the bits on the back? From memory..... Well it was a popular bodge mostly because the low front plate would take a bashing when the hydrolastic fluid escaped - raising the numberplate - or more often picking it up of the ground and using garden wire to attach it to the grill was quicker and easier than getting the leaks dealt with. It was not a bad thing in the winter, it gave the distributer a tiny bit of additional protection and allowed less cold air in to the engine bay too, but in the summer it was a bad idea due to the already marginal cooling abilities....

skylinedave ; Oh right,I see what your saying now! I like the anti static strips so I added one haha. It wont get much more stuff put on it honest MaxN ; Ah ok, I thought it was just for looks, I think it looks better anyway! darrenh ; The Speedwell badges and accessories were added by the PO, I'll keep the bonnet one and Speedwell pedal, but I'm changing the gearknob. I've got a set of these to go on it

Soo, its finally on the road and being driven! Few teething problems, but nothing major as of yet. Added a few things and changed stuff.. Made some hi level rear brake lights; Louvre got mounted! Wheels had a makeover; and I put a proper steering wheel in Next is a set of alloys, probably the KN Mercury's, but I have some very special ones planned for the future

This looked awesome externally when you first got it, everything looked 'of the period' and like it had always been there... as though it had been stuck in a barn back in the day and recently rolled out. Now it's looking a bit forced and confused about what it wants to be. I like the louvre but it clashes with a roof rack for me. Those window winders are cool, I've not seen that before. What were the seats in the first pics? The one's in the later pics look good. Each to their own but a little less is more!

How much did you pick that little Mini up for if you don't mind my asking ? I really fancy getting another one, but prices have skyrocketed on them from what they used to be available for.
Looks awesome (especially in the first couple of pics), they're a lot of fun - you can do so much with them. The wheels that are on it now, are those the same wide ones at the top , spray painted and with hubcaps added on ?
Enjoy your Mini !

When I saw the title I thought you'd put a naturally aspirated diesel in a Mini. Not that it matters but I prefer the before pictures to the after ones. The main thing is that the car is on the road and being used (and thankfully isn't diesel) :-) Looks like it'll be great fun as a daily.
