Lowering A Bedford/Vauxhall Rascal

Anyone know about lowering the front of a Vauxhall/Bedford rascal? I would rather not chop springs if I can avoid it!!!

Looks like you can use blocks between the back axle and the leaf spring. Think its got struts at the front, so cutting a coil or two of the springs might be the only answer.

Theres a couple of builds somewhere on here a green van that was lowered with rims and a blue pickup, I found the link below whilst looking for info for my Bedford Midi, it has a good underside shot.

Having just lowered a Honda acty - Honda version of the rascal van. The front is the tricky part. Just cutting the springs can't give you enough drop as the shocks top out. I had to go to gaz shocks and get the fronts custom made to give some more travel.

He is massively busy with work currently. It's nothing personal.
He had to have a company called Pro-Tech build adjustable coilovers to his own spec to get it low-low, as pointed out the factory struts bottom out with only a few coils removed.

Did you read Mystery Machines Rascal build thread? Plenty of information in it.

When I spoke to Pro Tech about getting another set of shocks like MMs made, they declined.

Yes protech don't do custom made struts anymore - they deal with alloy stuff now and not kitted out for steel coilovers.

Give gaz shocks a ring. They made my struts for the acty. They were reluctant to begin with but finally convinced them I wouldn't leave until they accepted.

As I may be in a similar position with my motor, has anyone been down the route of finding a similar type of strut available in the right length and modifying it. Top mounts are quite transferable with the right bush and the hub mounts can be welded on I presume.

Start with some cheap micra or corsa coilovers and go from there?

Or are there too many variables for that route?
