Well I finally caved to the idea of owning an Mx5! A lot of the blame I will lay at the feet of Bruce(Mystery Machine) and the infamous Dirtbag! I nearly secured that car a while back but it wasn't to be, though that turned into a blessing in disguise as I had the pleasure of owning an SWB 300zx in the intervening period as well as my lovely WD21 that my friend now owns and that I still have the luxury of borrowing now and then. Also I realised that the big draw with an Mx5 for me was getting an unmodified version/blank canvas that I could turn into my ideal Mx5 and at the same time for the first time with a car actually attempt to do as much of the work myself as possible. So to the car, it's a 1992 Eunos Roadster V spec, it has been owned by a lovely chap for the past 8 years who used it exclusively for a summer toy with his missus. Unfortunately she past away in March and he decided to sell. It hasn't seen a winter in 8 years and the bodywork shows this, as a retired mechanic it has always been serviced and any work/repairs it's needed he's always done as and when. It's only done 90000 ish and the only mods are the timing mod and a stainless steel back box. It has nearly 13 months MOT it had two advisories but he corrected those before I picked it up! An absolute top man and all this was mine for £1000 I've bought a few bits tonight and will update as and when they arrive and are fitted etc. Here she is....

Very nice (well maybe not the spoiler, but that's taste) looks good for £1000. Will be interesting to see what you do.

Great cars Is it definitely a V-Spec? Vast majority are green and yours doesn't seem to have the tan interior? Looks a lot like an S-Special.

Completely new to these cars to be honest just going by what the previous owner said and the v badge on the front It's got the Bilstein suspension and the interior is all black with a black Nardi steering wheel. Just had a quick google and does seem more likely to be an S special but it's a bit random it's been badged as a V special lol

"S-Spec kit includes black paintwork, a set of 14-inch BBS alloy wheels, Bilstein dampers, a strut brace, a rear spoiler, and a Nardi steering wheel and gearknob in the cabin" Check, check and check! it'd seem it's an S-Spec good spot! About to de-badge ha

Sorted the previous owners home made "CAI" out today, temporary solution until I decide what route induction wise I'm going to take, if any.... Before After This was the shape of the tube I removed, it ran under the headlight unit and down toward the front grill, as I'm sure you'll agree lots of smooth air flow ran through here ha!

That CAI is pretty poxy, but the whole idea of a CAI is to suck fresh air in from outside the engine bay. Cutting it off behind the light seems a little redundant.

I Agree, hence the rather tongue in cheek reference to it being a "CAI" in the previous post, but not to worry plans for a better system are in place for my next set of days off. That was merely to help it in the mean time(which it did). Thanks for the input

Looks nice and tidy base to start from, pleased to hear you found a good one The air intake in the position will be catching much cooler air than standard, it should be catching cool air coming in from the turn signal intakes. If you added a separator of some sort to stop air from the TSI mixing with warm air from the radiator you'll probably be there, a bit like this turbo owner has done. Alternativly, the cowl intake route seems to be one of the most popular tried and tested methods.

Not much to update at the mo just been driving her and getting a feel for these brilliantly fun cars. I've been stock piling a few parts I've acquired over the past few days, should be looking a lot different come Thursday I did pop out the seat belt relaxer fuse, so much better when you have a snug seatbelt!
