Hi all long time lurker first time poster. I've always onwned minis. And still do. But have a thing for anything old with and engine. Any way a customer of outs at work came in one day. And said she still had her old hillman in the garage and didn't know what to do with it. Obviously I was interested straight away. So went and had a little look and I'm. Now it's new owner. It's one owner from new. And was last used in 94. It was serviced and mot'd the parked up in the garage where it never saw daylight till last week. I went in freed off the brakes. Whipped the plugs out to put some diesel down the bores just incase. Drained the fuel tank replaced with fresh stuff. Turned it over by hand first. Then tried to start it. One new coil later and it fired up on the button. Going to get it out of the garage over the weekend and get some better pictures.

Well I pulled it out the garage this evening. Everything works. Apart from the clutch which appears to be stuck. So thats going to be the first thing fix. I can't wait to get stuck into this little project

That's one of the best colours these came in, the two others being a similarly vibrant metallic green and a gorgeous flat yellow. What an excellent discovery (the car, not the Landrover ;P)

Those wheels would look nice banded an inch or so with hub caps still in place.

If the rest polishes up like that you're on to a winner there.
For the clutch: Pump the pedal a few times to build up the pressure until it gets really stiff then wedge the pedal down.
Leave it overnight and if you're really lucky it may free off.
Haven't tried mine yet but after 7 years it's probably the same!

Before using the usual brutal methods on the clutch try wedging the pedal down and simply letting the engine run for a good length of time. The last one I did took 2 hours! By then heat had got into the clutch and it simply freed off without any drama.
We had one of those in Aquarius - can't tell from the photos which colour your is, it looks different indoors and outside. It's a lovely car you've found there.
If I remember right the only issue we had with ours was that the steering gets a bit loose with miles - there's too many linkages in the system.
I agree with the suggestion to keep any mods subtle. The Hunter is a good looking car and rare to see one looking so original these days.
Which engine is it?
